As I sit here and try to reflect on my wedding day, I get completely overwhelmed with everything I want to say. It is really hard to try to adequately put into words how much this day meant, and how special it was. I knew I was going to marry Tim on our first date, and getting to walk down the aisle to him, and become his wife, has been the biggest blessing of my life.
Tim and I were married on October 14th, 2017. It was the most beautiful day, and a perfect 78 degrees, there was not a cloud in the sky. I could not believe it when I woke up. It was wedding day and it was perfect!!
I chose to get ready in my house, with my bridesmaids and a few close friends. It was so nice to be in my own space, wake up in my own bed and not have to worry about packing things in and out of a hotel room. Highly recommend this option! My friend and fellow makeup artist Amelia Evans did all of our makeup, and I did my own hair. No matter how well you plan, I feel like on wedding days you are always running a tad behind, and my wedding was no exception, so ladies, plan some buffer room here so you don’t get stressed! Also, my biggest tip—do not put things off for your wedding day. Not even the smallest task, make sure it is all wrapped up before the wedding day. You want to spend that time relaxing and being present, I promise! (ps I have listed details on where to find things in this post at the very bottom of the page)
We did our first look at Ashland, Henry Clay Estate. Once I saw Tim I felt so much better. I feel like most people do first looks these days, but if you are on the fence, I am here to tell ya it is so nice to do. It is really the only time you get all day just the two of you, and it makes the picture process go smoother.
Have you ever seen a cuter groom reaction face?! Priceless, Tim Jenks!
We had our ceremony at Saint Peter Catholic Church, and it was an absolute dream. It felt like a movie walking down the aisle! We had candles and lanterns lining the aisle, and it was so beautiful. Music is really important to me and Tim, and thankfully our priest let us use all of our own music, which meant so much. I walked down the aisle to a song I had dreamed of walking down the aisle to, and it was absolute perfection!! It was a piano version of Pachabel’s Cannon, mixed with U2 With or Without you. I was a little psycho about my vision for this, and luckily it worked out perfectly, haha. I remember squaring off with the church lady, she was trying to get me to start walking, and I was like no no ma’am, this is not my part yet. Talk about control issues right?
When I tell you the weather was perfect, just LOOK at that sky!
We played instrumental Ed Sheeran, Perfect”(Perfect was also our first dance) during the Unity Candle portion, and I feel it is important to mention that I did try to blow out the unity candle, so there’s that, haha. Luckily it didn’t go out, so that has to be a good sign right? Also supplied some comic relief for the audience. Our first kiss as husband and wife was perfection, and reminded me so much of our actual first kiss. We walked out of the church to instrumental Starship, Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, and even though I almost fell, it was still a dream. (You try walking in 4 inch sparkly heels, and 10 pounds of tulle!!)
We had our reception on the patio of Champions Trace Golf Course, under the most perfect blue sky and market lights this gal has ever seen. I must give a huge shout out to my wedding planners and florist Doug and Glenn, for so effortlessly pulling off my vision, without a whole lotta input from me. Most of our conversation’s were me saying “I like this, but do whatever you think, I trust you-go forth. Make beautiful.”
Fun fact: My sister made all of our signs!
I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I got to marry the love of my life, surrounded by our closest friends and family. The day could not have been more perfect. I had the BEST team of vendors creating, and capturing our memories so wonderfully.
I feel like the best way to really experience our wedding day is through our wedding highlight video! It truly captures everything way better than I can put into words!! I have linked it HERE, and also have included our preparations video, because, I love it! Thank you to each and every person that helped make our wedding day so incredibly special. I will never forget how loved Tim and I felt.
