If I had a dollar for every time a client showed me a pic of the gorgeous Caitlin Covington’s bridal hair! But really, there is a reason that her wedding was voted one of the most influential of 2018, because the whole thing was gorgeous and inspired many a stylist across the land! I feel like we all need to properly pay homage to her bridal stylists Charlotte Belk and Lindsey Burchfield for their work, well done sisters. But I digress, today I want to talk about one of my favorite clients of 2019, and how we created her bridal look with some inspo from Caitlin, of course!
I met Abby, and instantly knew I just adored her! She is one of the kindest, most beautiful people I have ever met! We did her trial run when I was about 5 or 6 weeks postpartum, maybe even sooner, and she was so gracious and patient that my sweet new baby was with us.
Abby wasn’t really sure what she wanted to do for her bridal look. She knew she didn’t want it all up in a formal updo, and wanted to have some of it down, so we quickly compromised on an “up but down” look. I love this kind of hairstyle because it has the structure and security of an updo, but the softness and look of a, well for lack of better word, “down do”.

I started from the top actually with this hair style. I usually always start from the bottom, but this time I started with the top and worked my way down. I got the poof all perfectly pinned then just started securing sections with clear elastics loosely, working down the hair. I would tease and fluff out each section as I went. We really need a video for this, honestly, because it is so hard to explain in words!
I love how the finished product turned out, so gorgeous!! It’s a little more structured than Caitlin’s was, both beauitful I think!
We left some face framing pieces around her face to add softness. I always love strategically placed face framers, or ‘money pieces’ if you will. The trick to making these look good is having shorter pieces to begin with, and teasing them to the high heavens (and then smoothing) to stay in place.
I have linked all the products I used on Abby below! My tried and try must haves for any bridal stylist.

One of my favorite hair styles you’ve ever done on a bride. Beautiful work, girlfriend <3
I read your blog in 2010 when it first started, so it is great to see you blogging again. Your have had some amazing accomplishments and new baby Cameron is simply adorable (and so well styled). Can’t wait to read more! Aby’s hair and makeup was flawless – only wish I lived on that side of the pond to experience a makeover! Joanne GB.
It’s been over a year and I still can’t believe I made your blog! I can’t thank Alyson and the Blush and Glow team enough for making my bridal hair and makeup a dream come true. I know I’ll look back on this day when I’m old and never get over this look. Love you Alyson, you’re the sweetest and one of the best people!
Forever thankful 💓
