Even though they say spring sprung yesterday, I am still majorly struggling with some dry skin over here. This winter has been awful! Even my poor little hands are so dry I just want to lather up in lotion all the time and sleep in gloves.
I figure I can’t be the only one dealing with dry skin, am I right? Luckily I haven’t had any real crazy pregnancy related skin issues, except for being more dry than usual. I asked my good friends at Beautiful You Med Spa to give me their tips on combating dry skin. I have been going to Beautiful You for over 4 years now, it is one of my favorite places on earth!
Beautiful You offers a VIP program where you can get a facial (or massage if you want!) every month. I see Maddie, and here is our typical routine now that I am pregnant, that I have blogged about before.
But back to the dry skin. So it sounds like the key is hydration. The Beautiful You crew says “HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE. Drink as much water as possible during the winter months.” well this is good news, because I literally chug water these days. I also once read that was Carrie Underwood’s secret to such glowy skin, so of course, water I did.
The BY girls also said to limit time in hot showers, which was s big bummer because that is basically my favorite activity these days, haha. Using a gentle cleanser can also help to not further dry out your skin. My current fav is this one, I love that it is in a pump bottle and easy to keep in the shower. I also love this one from Obagi, it is more a splurge item but totally worth it.
Doubling up on hydration with a serum/moisturizer combo can be super effective as well (my fav are the B5 Hydrating Gel and Triple Lipid Restore by SkinCeuticals).
Literally, I want to put this stuff all over my body, but alas it only comes in a small jar so I have to limit to my face and neck. I don’t know if you have tried it, but it feels so luxurious and a teeny tiny bit minty.
This Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray is great for a moisturizing pick me up and makeup setting spray. Also it just makes you feel fancy, so there’s that. All of these products are available at Beautiful You, but I linked as well for you below if you are not local (sad).
Here’s to hoping that Spring really is close by, or I will riot in the streets!! If you are in Lexington and looking for an esthetician to start a routine skin care regiment with, I cannot say enough good things about Maddie at Beautiful You. She is the best!
