SensatioNAIL at home gel manicure

I posted this picture yesterday, and you guys seemed excited to hear more about this system, so as promised here we go!

I picked up the Sensationail at home gel starter kit at Wal-Mart for about $60. I was skeptical at first, I had tried another “last for two weeks” type kit, but it was only $10, and a major FAIL. Surely this one would be better right??

Here is what is included in the starter kit:

Pick the color you want, and everything you need is in the box. You can buy refills for the basics for about $10, and I think each different color is about $12? So you are saving majorly on getting a gel mani done, which average what about $40? I never get manicures anyway, I stick to paying for pedi’s only, because I am poor. 😉

I was SUPER impressed with the system. It worked exactly how it said it was going to, and I couldn’t believe how fast it dried to look exactly like the gel mani’s I have gotten in the salon.

The process actually took less time than it usually does just to polish my nails. And I had no smudges, or uneven color.

Voila. Quick and easy, and I was left with this lovely manicure. I am on day three now and they are still just as shiny, and not one chip. I am SOLD.

They have some great new colors too, I am going to pick up the chocolate brown, purple, and navy for fall!

Removal seems pretty painless too (I’ll let you know in two weeks, ha!) just soak in acetone, and use this handy little scraper to get the excess off.

I highly recommend this if you are looking to do your mani’s at home and save on the salon dollars! I am so glad I picked one up! Roomies are pretty glad too 😉

xoxo

  1. okay. I need this. Thanks girly.

  2. Alicia Marie says:

That's awesome!! I might have to try that, because I skip maincures too since they chip within a day for me.

  3. Annabelle says:

I soo want to try this! Question, does the removal tool come with the kit too?

  4. Katie says:

I am so glad you tried this! I have been looking at it at wal-mart but I would never take the plunge. You have me sold!

  5. Rachel says:

LOVEEEEEE! I am so going to get this later. I'm always looking for a better alternative to my manicure obsession!

  6. Oh, I do like that brown and the navy… but I get bored with my polish so quick, who knows if I'd be ok with one color for 2 weeks!? lol. I do, kind of, want to try this though. Darn you!

  7. Sasha says:

PinkLouLou- I have the Gelish system, which is very similar, and I love it. Quick tip: Rather than soak your fingers in acetone, have you heard of the foil method? It's where you put an acetone soaked cotton ball on your nail and wrap it in foil to hold it in place. Well, a nail boarder found an even better way, using these silicone finger cover thingys… anyway, I posted pics on my nail blog yesterday to illustrate.

Besides glitter polish, it works great for removing gel nails too.

  8. Pamela says:

I have been wanting to try this out since I get gel manis all the time. I am just SO bad at doing my own nails I think I would somehow manage to screw this up too. LOL!

  9. Ashley says:

oHHH I would love to try this! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Shayna says:

This is awesome! Great job on the mani!

  11. I so think I need this. I have seen it but have yet to get it because I did not want to waste money on something that did not even work! But since you have now tried it & loved it I think I may have to cave & go buy it 🙂 & stick to letting Wendy do only my gel pedi verses gel mani & pedi both 🙂

  12. Sami says:

Hmm I am very intrigued. I wonder if I could do this on my acrylics? Yesss I still have acrylics. It keeps me from biting my nails which is the worst habit ever that I cannot seem to break 🙂

  13. Lindsey says:

"well they may look like gel nails because they ARE gel nails" wuahah, i dunno why but I Thought they were press on nail color for some reason yesteray.

I'm impressed. I will look into this once I'm settled in Vegas. Yes, Vegas. I'm already planning you and DONs trip. (and Carol if she's able)

  14. Lauren says:

I've never had a gel manicure but these look GREAT! And I can't believe how fast it sounds. I have to wait for my polish to dry for 30 minutes because I always smudge it, and even then, it get's dented half the time!

  15. So beautiful!! Love the color you chose, too. 🙂
    Have a wonderful week, dear!
    xoxo

  16. Ali says:

This turned out so well! I agree, my budget does not agree with those salon manicures, but I LOVE this idea! I'm going to have to go check it out 🙂
    xo

  17. Hmmm – Simply Flawless Hair & Nails? Maybe?

  18. I have been dying to try these kits and I haven't had the guts to just buy it and try it!! So glad to know it works – maybe an early Christmas present? hehe

  19. Megan G. says:

This looks really cool and easy! Not going to lie, when I first saw this I was pretty skeptical. You have definitely changed my opinion though and I can't wait to go out and buy this for myself!

  20. lori says:

oh i am so excited you posted this. i have been wondering about these kits! what about your toe nail polish? do they have one that matches, or you use the same one or what? i am super picky about my nails and toes matching!

  21. keshni says:

Your nails look awesome. South Africa needs this 🙂

  22. DearKrissy says:

I'll have to give this a go. I'm trying to adjust to doing my nails at home by myself, instead of having them done. Hmmm. I love that color too.
Though my favorite is For Audrey by China Glaze.

  23. I think I have to get this! Will you please do a post on how you get your cuticles to look professionally done too? Love your blog!!!

  24. Just now seeing this but gahhhh they look so good! I must get one of these!!!!

  25. Kim says:

I just picked this up too!! I haven't gotten a full two weeks out of it, but it did last more than my regular mani with polish!

Did it last the 2 weeks for you? Have you tried any of the other colors? I think I am obsessed!

  26. Amanda says:

Thanks for the review! I will definitely be buying the kit, then using my regular polish! Great idea 🙂
