Hard Candy makeup

For some reason yesterday, I had this hankerin’ to buy some makeup. Being it Sunday, the mall closed early, so yours truly found herself perusing the aisles of Walmart come 9 oclock.

I was pleasantly surprised with my finds.

I was actually looking for this Loreal illuminating serum stuff, but couldn’t find it, and decided to give the hard candy one a go. Verdict? Me likes. It has a similar consistency to the Too Faced primed and poreless, however it packs a much more budget friendly price tag.]

LOVE both of these. Who doesn’t like more lipgloss, I mean really. It looks a lot more orange in the pic above, than it really is.

I have been wanting to try some of these eyeshadows since Miss Emily blogged about them awhile ago. I like the small size, perfect to keep in your purse for touch ups.

No if we are being honest here, I have a love/hate relationship with eyeliner. I feel like I can never find one that truly gets me, the real me. I go back and forth between pencils, liquids and gels… never truly satisfied. I am giving this one a go currently. Pros for this baby include it’s easy and streamlined application, as well as the fact it does not itch my eyes. You’d be surprised how many of them do…

And last but not least in the slightest, I picked up one of the SensatioNAIL at home, gel starter kits.

I was dripping with skepticism, but color me thrilled when the product actually worked the way it said it was going to!

More on this tomorrow, I will be doing manicures tonight on all residents of my house, whilst sipping wine during quality reality TV.

xoxo

Happy to hear that you liked the HC makeup! I've heard raves about their concealer but never anything else. I'm a huge fan of the felt tip liner. I used to be terrified of eye liner and am now a pro thanks to the felt tip 🙂 Want to hear more about this gel nail system! Yours look great! Happy Monday lovie!

  2. Lauren says:

I've never used that brand of makeup before. I usually don't stray from what I normally wear. I love the way your nails came out! So pretty!

Hope you check out my giveaway!

  3. Alicia Marie says:

Oh boy, totally caught the makeup bug from you now…I'll probably be hitting up Walmart later. 😉

  4. Hilary says:

Can't wait to hear your take on the gel beauties! Thanks for the Hard Candy rec!

  5. Uber excited to hear about the nail system!! Everytime I got to Wally World or Target I look at it but was afraid it wouldn't really work!! Hurry up tomorrow!! xoxo

  6. CB_Wilson says:

I applied the ruby red Sensationail Polish on 8/10/12. I soaked it off last night (8/26/12) only because my nails had grown out so much! They weren't chipped at all!

I tried the HC primer, and I found that it made my face break out. I think my skin's just too oily for it.

  7. Jill says:

Well your nails look fantastic! And I think I might need to try some of that eyeshadow and liner! They look great 😉 I used to love to just go buy random makeup products but now that my taste has uh…increased on the price scale? I can't do that as often, ha! Didn't you try out another gel nail home product recently? I can't remember whether you liked it…

  8. K says:

I'm in love with gel manicures now! I'm seriously hooked. I'll have to try that out!

  9. Lindsey says:

hmm never heard of this hard candy make up you speak of. That lip gloss looks really legit as do those nails. They look like gel.

  10. Cara says:

I LOVE gel manicures but I'm too scared to do them myself because I just cannot handle doing it on my right hand (using my left hand). Did it work alright?

  11. There are a lot of eyeliners and mascaras that make my eyes itch too! Any suggestions?

  12. silvertag says:

I use that eye-liner and love it! It doesn't smudge and leave me looking like a raccoon after the work day ends, which happens with pencil. bonus – it's cheap!

  13. I remember when Hard Candy used to be an uber expensive brand carried in Sephora so I'm THRILLED its made the jump to Wally World! I'm gonna have to pick up the lip colors you mentioned… I already use that eyeliner 🙂

  14. Marjorie says:

Nails turned out so cute! Love!

  15. Myra says:

Pretty nails! Looking forward to your review tomorrow so I can decide if I should run out and get it or not 😉

Also, I think I'm going to need to try that Hard Candy primer. I was looking for something good that won't make me go broke!

  16. Lauren says:

I was also wondering if that gel nail system worked, looks awesome! 🙂

  17. Brittany says:

I can't wait to read the review I really really want one of these for myself 🙂 chipping nails drives me insane so I hope that this gel nail system holds up ! Let's us know !!

  18. girl i've had the day from down under. come to my house and paint mine too? will have to try some hard candy stuff. i am a sucker for fun packaging too.

  19. Melanie says:

I've been wanting an eye shadow duo from Bare Escentuals, but haven't wanted to drop the $20 on one. This Hard Candy one looks very very similar! I'll be looking for Hard Candy soon!

  20. Courtney says:

I shellac my own nails at home! Let us know how long that last!

  21. okay, I'm going to go grab it!! I love that eye shadow 🙂 Thanks for the review 🙂
also, can't wait to hear more about your nails !!! Ive been debating trying that stuff for some time like you

  22. I've used the Hard Candy shadow before and love it! I think you've convinced me to try some of the other products now too…I know, you totally twisted my arm 😉

  23. Raven says:

say what? Hard Candy is sold at Walmart?? Sine when? love the finds though!

  24. Emily Rehse says:

Hard Candy is an amazing brand, even after swapping hands. It used to be owned by Urban Decay and sold at Sephora! The concealer and mascara are among some of my favorites!

  25. Megan G. says:

I absolutely love Hard Candy, it's seriously one of the best brands if you're going for something cheaper. Glad to hear that you like them! I'm going to have to go for their lip glosses though, you got some amazing colors! 🙂

  26. Cami says:

Oh that eye liner looks great!
PLEASE let me know how that gel polish works! Tweet me if you can – @firstdayofmylif – I've been so bad with blogging idk if I'll make it over your side of the world tomorrow .I've tried a home gel polish before and it was down right terrible!

  27. Becky Norton says:

You're the cutest! Can you either do a post on concealer or tell me what you like? I don't know if I don't use enough or haven't found the right one. Mama's eyes need some brightening. 😉 Thanks!!!

  28. Kaitlyn says:

I have been pleasantly surprised by the whole Hard Candy line. Love their face primer and mascara primers, especially.

  29. Brooke says:

    Cute purchases!

    =)

  30. wow your nails look so professional!

  31. Stephanie says:

I need to hear how long this gel system really does last so please share when it starts to chip.

The only downfall to this system, from what I heard, is that they only have one color.

Your eyeliner battle is the same as mine. I always use liquid liner for the top and a very dark black pencil for my under eye. That seems to work the best for me.

Thanks for sharing your review of these products. There is nothing I love more than finding products from Walmart and Target that can do the job of the high end products 🙂

  32. CynthiaC says:

I must be crazy old at (almost) 33 because I remember Hard Candy being mostly a nail polish line when I was in high school in the 90s. I think they were the first line that sold funky colours like blues and greens (which I wore on my toes because my school had a uniform code that wouldn't allow "noticeable" nail polish). I think I wore HC for about two years, and stopped when I went to university (and they sort of disappeared soon after). Glad to see that they're back.

  33. ashlee says:

I'm so glad you bought the gel kit! I have been looking at it for a very long time! I've used both the Hard Candy & Loreal primer! After about a month they separated! Now they are oil & mush! Not what I expected from Loreal! Other than that I loved it ): Have a great day!

  34. Stacy says:

Great post! I looked forever for the right eyeliner… I think i finally found it- worth a try I think. I use the MAC powerpoint pencil in the black color – then I use a Covergirl liquid liner (has a felt tip so easy to appy) at the very base next to my lashes. I think it is the perfect combo! A mix of high end and low end. Since coming up with this I haven't strayed (like 2 years now)!!! PS – love your photo you tweeted of the UK ADPi banner – I was an ADPi and my sister just went ADPi at Clemson yesterday 🙂 Pi Love <>

  35. Okay. So eyeliner has been a longstanding problem of mine. I can't live without it, and I can't find the perfect one. Trouble.

I've tried BILLIONS, including: Dior, Kat Von D. semi-liquid pencil (which I like pretty well), Urban Decay, Sephora brand, and billions of drug store brands. Unsatisfied. The pencils ALWAYS smudge and leave me looking essentially eyeliner-less by the end of the day. Liquid eyeliners pretty much always make my eyes water, and if you screw up at all while putting them on, it's a bad situation.

And then I tried the $3 e.l.f. cream eyeliner and I LOVE IT. I am so surprised that I love it because I definitively did NOT love any of their other eyeliners. But the little pot of cream eyeliner is pretty much the best I've tried, and now I'm sold. I expect you've tried it?

    Your nails look gorgeous!
