Motherhood is hard, makeup doesn't have to be.
I simplify makeup for busy moms.

I still can’t believe they let me buy a house ;)

Yup. There is the casa! Granted, this pic was taken back in August, when the house was still being worked on. It just occurred to me that I don’t have any recent pics of the outside. Although not much has changed – I need some SERIOUS landscaping help. In a major way.

The house is no way near finished, but those things just take time I suppose. I realized if I waited to show you all everything until it was “finished” it would be five years before you would even see it. HA.

So I am gonna go all Young House Love, Property Brothers on ya and show you where it all started.

This house was built in the 60s, and when I say it was completely gutted and everything was re-done, I mean everything.

Here is a little floor plan to help you out. And no I cannot draw.

In the main living space, we knocked out the walls between the kitchen, dining room, and living area to make one big ‘open-concept’ area. And when I say “we” I mean my contractor friend who re-does houses. 😉

When I came into the project, the house still had 4 bedrooms. I said to myself “self, you don’t need four bedrooms, but you need three bedrooms and a sweet closet”.

And the next day the walls came down between the master, and the extra bedroom, henceforth referred to as “closet”.

The third bedroom in the attic is one of my favorite spots for some reason. It is HUGE and quiet, has three windows with lots of natural light, and two closets.

There was an unfinished basement and garage, which we finished into a bonus room-which is now perfect for prime time tv watching and pug cuddling. Laundry room is also off the new finished part.

Things started to really get exciting when the closet started taking shape. I designed the closet myself from things I saw on Pinterest, and other closets I have seen IRL. It was pretty crazy, and i still can’t believe I have a bedroom-sized closet.

It is hard to get a full picture of it all, but I have lots of hanging space, shelving etc. for maximum storage. I also get ready in here at my vanity, but I switched the mirrors out, so don’t pay attention to the one in this pic. There is a more recent one if you keep scrolling…

I love love my door, and the floors. OBSESSED. The original hardwood floors were refinished, and I  am pretty sure the color stain is dark walnut if I remember correctly. I don’t know why I think these two little stairs are so cute, but I love them. The handrails have since come down, but had to be up for the inspection.

I also have a slight obsession with painted brick, so I love my cute little fireplace.

In the kitchen I wanted dark cabinets and lighter granite, a la something I saw on pinterest at some point (seriously, what would we do without it?)

And here is the basement. It’s just a little basement, but it’s my basement 🙂

***

Fast forward to now. We have sort of gotten things together. It is just such a slow process. Unfortunately everything costs money LOL, and takes TIME! Which I think we all know I have limited amounts of both, haha.

The dogs seem to be pretty happy…

{bar stools from TXMaxx!}

{pug salt and pepper shakers!}

Master bedroom in progress…

Closet in progress…

Valet pulls= your new best friend. However, do not pay $30 a piece at Lowes. go here and get 3 for $30!

Sadie even has her own closet. Why? Because that is hilarious. I am finding it hard to find hangers so small. Time to google I suppose.

Love love my tile walk in shower. And also my adorable vanity. I think they still have them at Lowes. I found the main part here, but can’t seem to find the side parts. Hmm.

I realize I am going to have a hard time convincing a man to live with me, ever, especially in that closet, HA. But nothing a little paint can’t remedy when the time comes 😉

I Love, love, love my house. I still can’t believe it is mine. While it was hands down the most stressful process of my life, it all worked out in the end.

And thankfully I had plenty of wine to keep me company when I wanted to pull my hair out.

Because we also know I don’t have any of that to spare either 😉

In the words of one of my favorite wines “being fabulous is exhausting”

Cheers to being a (sort of) grown up and owning a house.

And how about a shot or two, because now I have to pay for said house. 😉
