AskPinkLoulou, round 2

Hey ladies! You all submitted some fabulous questions for AskPinkLouLou! I am saving the hair related ones for next week, because I will need to do some tutorials for those 😉

This next question is one I get asked often, so hopefully there are more of you out there who will benefit from it!

Miss Betsy… I am so glad you asked.

Everything on my blog, I do myself. I am pretty self taught when it comes to all things blog design.

Photoshop and Indesign are my favorite programs for all things design related. I use them both, just for different things. Either one will let you write on pics, and arrange them in little collages etc.  If you don’t have access to these programs, pixlr is a fantastic free website, that does many of the same things. Also, there is a FAQ section which should be able to help you a lot.

I am not exactly sure the difference between Photoshop, and Photoshop elements, but from what I understand elements will let you do most of what you will be wanting to do, for simple photo editing.

Now anything blog design related… I googled. At one point I had no idea what I was doing, so I literally googled everything. The answer is out there, but you just have to find it, and have patience to learn how to mess with html codes. Fun stuff right? 😉

For example, you want three columns in  blogger? Google it. It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

I am by NO means a blog design pro…like at all… but I have learned a lot thanks to the trusty web.

Oh GURL. You just spoke to my heart.

Nothing makes me happier than being organized. In all life aspects.

1. Here is a post I did on how I organize my hair accessories, makeup, nail polish, jewelry… and even my hair. Yes, my hair.

I thoroughly enjoy these cheapy trays for organizing anything really… great for bathroom, and bedroom. I make a point to go through them every couple of months and get rid of stuff I am not using. I am the complete opposite of a hoarder.

Now other ways I stay organized you ask?

2. My Erin Condren Planner. (I just heard angels)

Bottom line, I write shit down. BOOM. Take my word for it, and get you one of these babies.

3. My life binder, for lack of better title.

I usually don’t carry this with me, because it has every single important paper ever. Like ever. Account numbers and statements, passwords, birth certificate, tax forms, all that jazz. It helps me keep all the important stuff right there, where I can find it. Somehow I like it better than files.

ALSO, heaven forbid there were ever an emergency such as a fire in my home, I could grab this (and Sadie!) and run out. I know it is weird to think about, but it is precautionary people!!

4. My daily iphone apps.

enough said. I check my bank account daily, call me crazy, but you can never be too careful. I also like to keep all my diet/nutrition/exercise info logged in My Fitness Pal. Makes it SO easy to track things!!

What else… hmm… I go through my closet every season, and get rid of things I didn’t wear the previous year. It is cutthroat, but it works. 🙂

I will tell you, that I am not $20,000 richer. Dammit. But it was super fun. As to when the show airs, your guess is as good as mine. They said Fall at the earliest, so keep those fingers crossed you get to see me embarrass myself on national television. I wouldn’t keep you guys in the dark, trust.

Shew, ok that was windy, sorry chics, but we had lots to cover. More AskPinkLouLou next week on all things HAIR AND MAKEUP!

xoxo

I love that idea about a life binder! I have everything in a file folder – but it'd would be hard to carry that and an overweight puggle out of the burning casa. I'm making one of these asap.

    Love these posts, girlfrand

  4. Brooke says:

my EC planner keeps me sane and goes everywhere with me! I don't think I could live without it!

  8. I have a life binder too! Once I got married, it drove me nuts that we didnt have a central place to put documents, notes on calls made to the bank, health insurance, etc.. I also have a master list of both families birthdays and anniversarys so we don't get into trouble with anyone!

  9. I have a life binder too! Once I got married, it drove me nuts that we didnt have a central place to put documents, notes on calls made to the bank, health insurance, etc.. I also have a master list of both families birthdays and anniversarys so we don't get into trouble with anyone!

  11. Making a life binder… TOMORROW! I have a file, and a notebook, and a folder, and a box (you get the idea) with all my important papers. Time to put it in a binder! Thanks for the idea!

  12. Megan G. says:

Girl, for being self-taught you are a bomb ass designer! I've been thinking about buying those programs too, and I think you just convinced me to do it. 🙂 Thanks for all the organization help, I've been needing to organize my life a little better!

  13. Soooo looking forward to your Family Fued episode! 😀

  14. The notebook is such a great idea! I'm going to have to do that. I love your new layout too, super cute!

  17. Betsy Lynn says:

I have ordered and am currently waiting on my EC planner, can't wait until I get it! Thanks for answering our questions! 🙂

  18. Rachel says:

Oh my goodness you just helped me out so much! I was chosen to be Southern Weddings Bride of the Month (woohoo!) but I needed to make a collage of all of my pictures for the article. I haz no photoshop or any other editing programz, so I just used pixlr and it changed my life! Hell-o! Thank you little miss! 🙂

  19. Shayna says:

LOVE the idea of your "life binder"! I need to do that with all of my stuff! I think you just gave me a new project for this weekend!

  20. This is the cutest post I've seen in a long time. I'm jealous of all your skills: hair, organizational, and most of all, blog design! You may have just inspired me to do a little research of my own to spruce up my blog, though I find it soooooo intimidating. As for organization, it just isn't something that comes naturally to me, though I know how important it is. It's at the top of my goal list!

  21. Thank you:) Inspired. Looking into those trays from Target and putting all my important documents in one place!

  22. Erica B says:

I lOVE this binder idea! I am an organized person, but I feel overwhelmed with my filing cabinet at the moment. I am really thinking about starting a binder like you have. Can you do a whole post about it? Not giving away your private details or anything, but how long do you keep items in it? When they get outdated do you then file them or do you start a whole new notebook and save the old one?

  23. Renata says:

LOVE the life binder idea. I need to realize I'm a grown up & have my momma not be the Important Document Keeper.

I live my EC. I forgot it once (ONCE) and was totally lost. I'm loving the look of the new designs but I'm waiting to upgrade until in closer to being out – I orders the 18 month planner last year so I am set until the winter!

  24. Kate Wesley says:

Girl, love the binder… and let me tell you THEY WORK!!!! Since the fire not only do I have one, but I keep it in my fire/water proof safe and I feel so safe and secure knowing it is there with all the info I will ever need if that were to ever happen again. GOOD CALL SISTA!!!! love you & proud of you for thinking in those terms!!!! ~Katey
