Motherhood is hard, makeup doesn't have to be.
I simplify makeup for busy moms.

side braid, into messy bun tutorial :)

Last night I bribed my Emily friend into coming over to play hair and makeup at my casa and watch trash tv.
I love my friends 🙂
So I said to myself, “PLL- you wizard with a bobby pin you– why don’t you take pics for your bloggy friends?”
So I did 🙂
I rock this look ALL the time, and it is simple…swear! This is different than the one I showed you here, which is coming (I just need to edit that film for you guys) but it is actually very similar in technique.
Alrighty… here goes!
Here is what you will need:
teasing comb, bobby pins, hair rubber band, and of course, le tresemme hairspray.
email me if you need help or have any questions!
psst….
PREVIEW for tomorrow’s post! {Brooke came over too!!}
OH and sidenote: I have been told by two people you can’t pin my stuff from my blog anymore… SAD!! Does anyone know how to fix this? It be messin’ with my social networking GAME

  3. Supah cute, and great tutorial.

  4. Sami says:

Okay missy! Since we have recently discovered that we are sister friends I think it's only fair that you come to Denver and do my hair.. everyday! Ha I wish! I am going to attempt this but I may have to switch it up bc sadly I do not know how to french braid. I know right? I'll have to do some youtube searching and teach myself! Both of these ladies are gorg and you did an amazing job with the hair! Love it, as always 🙂

  5. I finally have long enough hair to do this type of style! Yay! Thanks for posting it 🙂

P.s. I was able to pin your post…check it out here [http://pinterest.com/pin/202239839487090575/]. Dunno what the deal is for others?

  6. So cute! I'm going to have to try this! I have long hair just like hers, and have trouble getting my poofs to stay, so please help a sista out with a tutorial! lol

  7. Ok, I wish you lived near me and could come do my hair…for reals. Like both of those styles look so great, I'm just honestly TERRIBLE at doing my hair! I might have to try out this tutorial this weekend…thanks for sharing! 🙂

  8. Love the tutorial! I was able to pin! 🙂

  9. Shannon says:

When I win the lottery, I'm hiring you to be my hair stylist, fo reals. I, too, was able to pin this adorable hairstyle.

  10. Cara says:

You make it looks SO EASY!! I wish I had wispy pretty hair like you guys do. I have thick, thick hair that does not like to be pinned into shape. I love these tutorials. You are just too darn cute!

  11. Ok looks super easy and SO FANCY! I love fancy!! Tee hee!!! I'm totally going to try this out on myself!!! You are such a hair GENIUS. And she makes me sick with that natural hair color! Women pay THOUSANDS to have their hair look like that! Thanks PLL for inspiring me to try a new 'do! Mwah! xoxo

  12. Amanda says:

this is gorgeous! I love both of the hairstyles 🙂 you've got skill, girl!

  13. Sam says:

Love. Now if only my hair would GROW! Hate to say it, but I kinda sorta maybe hate her just a little for having such gorgeous hair that has never even been colored! Just kidding! Just had my highlights yesterday. She's got it good!

  14. Hair that's never been colored?! Amazing. I can't wait for my hair to grow out to do fun stuff like this!!!

  15. Laura Ann says:

I keep trying to do the poof! I bought the comb and everthing. Alas, no success. HELP!

  16. FABULOUS tutorial! I love the way you laid it out for us & step by step instructions next to the pics! Thanks for sharing your fab moves/styles with us! 😉

  17. Stephanie says:

NEVER BEEN COLORED??!! That BISH!! 😉 I'd KILL to have that head-a-hair!

Amazing…by the way. Wanna come to Texas on Saturday so you can do this to mine? I'll pay you in wine…and hairspray. Promise.

  18. I love this tatorial! super duper cute girlie!

  19. I was going to say you DO make this look easy!!! You come up with the most fun and cute hairstyles!! Love when you do tutorials like this and can not WAIT to see tomorrows! 🙂

  20. Elizabeth says:

I'm definitely trying this tomorrow. My building at work doesn't have air conditioning – you're updo tutorials are about to be my new best friend. xo

  21. Kenj says:

I WISH I could say I never colored my hair..the sad part is I do color it and it doesn't look as good. SAD.. this looks like a lot of fun! I need to try it.. also I would love a demonstration on poofing!

  22. Rorie says:

Yay love this so pretty!! I am glad to see someone else out there has never died their hair before!

  23. Mrs. TLB says:

LOVE this! You make it look too easy!

  24. Hilary says:

I can't pin either using the shortcut 🙁 Girl, this is yo calling!!

  25. Carrin says:

Super cute! I'm gonna give this a try on my girls first before I try to tackle my own hair. Now that my hair is longer I love looking for new ways to make it look good but not overdone.
Just one question, is it best to use clean hair or day old for some of these styles? I find that I usually want to do something like this when I don't feel like washing my hair in the morning.

  26. Laura says:

gorgeous! i was able to pin from your blog using the "pin it" button on my toolbar!

  27. Megan G. says:

When my hair gets long again I'll have to try this. This style looks so cute!

  28. lori says:

this is a perfect hairstyle for the charity event i have coming up soon!! i pinned it without a problem 🙂

  29. I was able to pin this 🙂 amberlambert on pinterest! I think you missed your calling lol!

  30. Lauren says:

    Love this style, super cute!!

  31. Laney Ellen says:

    you girls are adorable 🙂

  32. Kelly B. says:

    1) WHY are you not a hair stylist?!
    2) if I didn't just get engaged, and didn't love my fiance, I'd consider a move to KY to stalk and befriend you so you could do my hair all the time
    3) OMG I am seriously so jealous of your talent.
    4) I clearly need to spend more time drinking and playing with my hair so I don't look like a frumpy child.

  33. That's an adorable bun but sure seems like a lot to go through to achieve the messy look. If I want a messy bun I usually have my hair messy haha! You girls both have gorgeous hair tho!

  34. Jenny says:

OK….I dislike your hair tutorials because I can NEVER do them! lol My hair never works right when i try them. I hate my life. haha JK

  35. Karleen says:

I love your blog & I love your tutorials! I still haven't quite mastered the poof, but I keep trying. Maybe it's just because I'm from the North…haha! Seriously, I wish I could have you do my hair.

  36. CALLIE says:

My attempt at this last night was disastrous. Laughable really…

Seriously, what southern gal doesn't have poof in her hair… I should be deported.

  37. Betsy Lynn says:

You make it look soo easy, if only it really was (for me)! Poof video would be nice 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  38. rachel says:

i pinned it just fine, love!

  39. Sarah says:

I can pin things fine!! 🙂

  40. OMG.. you’re a life saver.. Thank You for posting this tutorial!! For some reason, my friend must have been sniffing some glue, and appointed me to do all the bridesmaid's hair for her wedding next Friday!.. I guess I'm flattered cause I can sorta do my hair.. but have no earthly clue how to do others'. SO thanks again.. and wish me luck! I'll post pics on my blog and link you for the success… (& hopefully not A FAIL).

  41. I think you should definitely do a "poof" tutorial!!! I know the basics but I have such thick hair, my ponytail just pulls the poof down 🙁 HELP a sista out!

  42. Crystaljk78 says:

Yay! Bring on the tutorials – they give me a much needed kick in the butt to try new things with my hair. Thank you 🙂 And I agree big-time with a "pouf" tutorial. I try and try but mine never look at sleek and perfect as yours.

  43. Linnea says:

Looks great! I'd love a "poof" tutorial. I've watched your other ones and just can't seem to get my poof to poof enough.

  44. elisenichols says:

Loves it! The poof tutorial you mentioned? I need one!

  45. love it!!! so glad you post these tutorials 🙂

  46. Brittany says:

What eye shadows is Brooke wearing ???

  47. Deb says:

    So cute!!

Please do a poof tutorial too. That would be great because I can just not seem to master it!

  48. kaseylm says:

You can totally still pin it, I just did 🙂

  49. LOVE this! Can't wait for the next one!
    xoxo

  50. Pink Glam says:

  51. Jessie says:

Sooo pretty!!! You make it look so easy! Wish you could do my hair

  52. I was also able to pin. Tried it out of curiosity and it worked.

  53. Plain Jade says:

Obsessed with this look! 🙂 definitely trying it ASAP! I'll be sure to take pictures!

  54. I am obsessed with your site! So precious! Please please please post a poof how-to. I have thin-ish hair and have NEVER been able to master the perfect poof! Thanks, love!

  55. Liz says:

I absolutely LOVE your blog, you & all your hair tutorials! I a was able to pin your blog using the "Pin It" link that Pinterest tells you to bookmark! You said maybe you'd do a post on le' pouf, that would be awesome!

  56. Alisa Marie says:

Just fixed my mom's hair like this! Great tutorial, it was super simple to do 🙂
