TGIF Ladies!

1. I love this shoe. Must find and not worry that it is in fact, made by Paris Hilton.
2. I am on a current quest to master ‘looser/beachwavy/softer’ curls a la Lauren Conrad. While I love my southern, country singer curls I have mastered in my sleep, I just sometimes want a different look. I’ve clearly been googling, but I trust you girls more. Any tips appreciated!
You see even Miss C likes to let loose and have messy curls. I have the braid down, but it’s the loose curl I need help with. Heeeelp.
3. I am in love.
Smashbox, soft lights in Shimmer (or prism, personal preference but I went with shimmer)
Miss Carolyn (who has no profile, or email addy!) recommended this to me and I am a sucker for anything iridescent and shimmery, so i immediately had to have it. Holy moly, this has single handedly changed my skin and I LOVE it! It is highlighting powder/blush I suppose, but I use it more for highlighting. Talk about gettin’ yoself some Carrie Underwood glow, that is EXACTLY what this does. Thanks Carolyn 😉
TGIF ladies! OH ps random – but have you all ever wondered if boys read your blogs? Because I think we all have some secret male followers. Just sayin’. 😉

LOVE those shoes, Parish Hilton aside. And I will definitely be buying that smashbox product- I've been on the lookout for a new highlighter and I love me a bit of shimmer!

  2. MJ says:

TGIF girlie!! Have a fabulous weekend!! And just remember, although the shoes may say Paris Hilton, I highly doubt she had anything at all to do in designing them 🙂

  3. i've seen those shoes at either Marshalls or TJ Max! so check there! 🙂

I've been dying to learn to do a side headband braid..maybe a video for you to show us in the future!?

I've ALWAYS WONDERED about guys reading blogs..I mean, they have to! we share everything about everything and even though guys hate to admit it, they love gossip/drama. plus, i see a lot of blogs where girls are telling about past relationships and how they turned out bad—could be some friendly tips for the men out there!

    xoxox happy friday love!

  4. Jacqueline says:

Try curling your hair and then spritz with bumble and bumble surf spray. I love this stuff especially in the summer. Hope this helps!

  5. Please let me know if you find out where you can get those shoes! I want them! And yes — I second the vote for a video tutorial on the side braid!

  6. ALW says:

I must go out and grab the smashbox product! It sounds amazing!!! Thanks for the tip 🙂

  7. Ashley says:

I get loose(r) curls using my straightener — I posted a picture of my hair yesterday with it. It has a little more structure than the couple of pictures you posted but maybe it will help?? My hair gets wavy like your pics after sleeping on it when it's wet haha. so that's my advice 😉
Those shoes are fabulous — I have been eyeing them for a while! i saw them at TJ Maxx a couple weeks ago. You could try there? Or order them from Zappos.com =)

  8. Emily says:

I've gotten totally in to youtube tutorials on hair styling after watching your fab country singer curls vlog (that i begged for like a total crazy lady), you try youtube.
Also, Emily, of cupcakes and cashmere has a nice tutorial! she's a total real life lauren conrad and even worked with her at Teen Vogue.

    Enjoy!

  9. Bumble and Bumble surf spray works great! I towel dry my hair, spray it through and go to bed with wet hair (not exactly pleasant but it does the trick) I have super long hair so not sure how shorter locks will do!
Just smooth over with a straightner the next morning and sometimes I even velcro roll the roots and give it a blast with a blow dryer for more volume!
    Good Luck!

  10. Beth says:

to get beach curls, i heard if you use one of those curling irons with no clamp, just the "curler" part (pardon my non beauty school lingo) it works.

  11. I use Aussie sprunch spray and it works great! It holds the curl but doesn't make it "crunchy" haha love that smashbox product! might have to check it out! have a great weekend girl! xoxo

  12. when you've got some free time, head on over to Raleigh and teach a girl how to braid like that. i've tried and failed a few times…just sayin 🙂

and on the subject of male readers, i know i've got one (that i don't even know). a sweet lady i know told me the other week that she was dying to set me up with this certain boy, so she sent him my blog! hmm…

  13. I use spray and a curled straightener! That I dont hold for a real curl..But just curl and slide down. The heat adds bounce, and the the spray holds the look! But that could be just my hair! haha.. Love those shoes!

  14. Steph says:

the bigger the curling iron the bigger the curl and also try to put like chi flat iron spray in b4 your curl each strand it will help hold it. do a thicker section first and then cut the curls when ur done. let them set and cool down. it will hold better.. always let it cool wether ur drying ur hair with a round brush or just curling.. it helps alot..!!

  15. Hannah says:

Once you figure out those curls, be sure to let me know!

    XOXO

  16. Kelsey says:

    love love those shoes!

  17. Katie says:

I use a flat iron just like you would a curling iron– it's a different shape of curl (more wavy). Then run your fingers through it a few times to loosen it up. Although, my real trick is to do it the night before, spray with hairspray, sleep with it in a high ponytail (to keep the hair from matting to your head of course), then the next day it's fallen out a little bit into gorgeous loose waves. You'll probably have to touch up just a tad, but it works like a dream for me. Good luck!!

  18. I use a HUGE huge curling iron and the soft waves work perfectly.

  19. Stephanie says:

So I have those Paris Hilton shoes and LOVE them! Mine are black and the soles are hot pink…and get this…found them at MARSHALL'S for $50!! I think they have them on Zappo's too. Love the nude color…

  20. Love this post! I must try the Smashbox Blush/Highlighter! Have a wonderful weekend!

  21. Amber says:

I'm still trying to master your country curls!! No help on the beach wave.

PS – when I get my blonde locks back, I may be emailing you for tips on using a weave. I want long blonde hair NOW! So I may have to steal some of your tricks! 🙂

  22. Michaela says:

My sister is on the same quest to find those LC curls 🙂

And i completely agree with the Smashbox purchase, I love, love, love mine.

    Ps Cute shoes 🙂

  23. Megan says:

I would love to learn how to do the loose wavy look. As soon as you find out, I hope there is a post!

  24. Day Old News says:

Like another recommended, the Cupcakes & Cashmere tutorial is the best method IMHO.

  25. Ally says:

    Those shoes are precious!

  26. Your girl Carrie is so pretty, and I'm amazed at the awesomeness of her legs every time you post a picture. As for the beachy waves, I don't have them mastered, but the Brazilian blowout has brought me close (and had changed my life). I LOVE IT. Literally, I never blow dry or flat iron my hair anymore–it's out of the shower and out the door now. So happy.

As for shimmer, I am a sucker for expensive makeup and there are several Smashbox products I love. But I'm totally loyal to Cover Girl blush in soft mink–I swear it will give you that same, light glow. It's beautiful. I have been using it for years. Try it–you can get it at drug stores and it's only like $5!

  27. Emily says:

I love those shoes, even if they are Paris Hilton! So cute. I'm a sucker for anything with a bow 🙂 When you master the loose curl, you must do a vlog on it so we can all learn!!! I've always loved Lauren's curls but can never get my own hair to do it.

  28. Morgan says:

I have an award for you on my blog!

  29. Tarryn says:

I'm on the quest for the LC waves too!! Fill us in when you figure it out!! 🙂

  30. Jamie says:

    CUTE shoes!

I watched this video by Michaela on how to get looser curls…

    http://michaelanoelledesigns.blogspot.com/2010/12/fashion-friday-12.html

I tried it and it works great and the curls turn out so pretty 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  31. Emily says:

I am in love with those curls and wish I could do them myself!

  32. Holly says:

Love the bows on the shoes! They have them at Marshall's in many different colors and I've been eyeballing them for a little while too!

  33. Rachel says:

TIME OUT! I need/want/musthave those shoes! Seriously, so glad you found those and sent them our way!

Secondly, I need you to become my personal hairstylist, ok? I can't master even the "country singer curls" so I need you to just fix mine everyyyday! And I for sure can't handle the braid. Maybe I'm just challenged in the hair department?

Geeeez Carrie's skin is flawless. If that stuff will make me look like that, I'm sold! I'm currently using the NARS blush you recommended and I LOVE it, so I trust your opinion 🙂

    Happy Friday, honey!

  34. Helen says:

I LOVE those shoes! I just bought heels with bows on them and they are my new favorites! Ok so I get my hair to do the beachy waves by using my straightner or my curling iron. With my curling iron I wrap the hair around the stick and it comes out more wavy than curly. With my straightener it usually gives me less wave but I just roll the straightener under and it gives the wavy look. Definitely use hairspray! Hope this helps!

  35. Lyndsay says:

I'd love to learn how to do those loose curls too. Some of the comments have some good suggestions that I'll have to try! I'd also like to learn how to do the side braid….do you have any how to tips? 🙂

  36. So I'm 99% certain I am going to the mall in the morning to buy that blush now. Thanks chica! Have a wonderful weekend. xoxo

  37. Pfffft. A boy definitely reads my blog, my husband. I often forget and then he calls me out on it, much like the time I thought he was coming home while I was eating a big spoonful of chocolate syrup and burned my mouth…

Now, do I think Jake Gyllenhal reads my blogs and lusts after me? I mean, he should.

    ::whispers::Call me.::whispers::

  38. Delaney says:

Those shoes are really cute. I could never wear heals like that though. My boy is very close in height with me and it just feels awkward to be so much taller than him in heals. Darn being a tall woman! hahaha

And now I am going to want to get that Smashbox product! Oh my goodness!

  39. Will you please do a tutorial on the braid?! haha! I've been trying to do this, but mine always looks like poo. 🙁 I love that loose curl look. It would look great on you. 🙂

  40. Courtney says:

I have the same blush, I have been using it forever! Love!

  41. Dree says:

Love the shoes and the blush! If you learn how to do the loose curls, please let us know, I'd love to learn! Carrie is so cute with the braid/curl combo. I hope that you have a great weekend!

  42. Erin says:

The braid is super cute, but you can also do a twist! You just gather the hair gradually. I have super short hair and long sweepy bangs these days and that is something new I learned! If I had had you to show me the weave earlier, I may not have cut my ugly hair off!

  43. ashley says:

Those shoes are adorable – worth forgetting that they're made by Paris Hilton!

  44. Shasta Anne says:

First of all loves the shoes!

Secondly, I also use a flat iron for looser curls.

3rd, you must enter my giveaway for a Clarisonic! http://www.shastaanne.com/

  45. Hey Doll!
I have mastered loose waves without a flat iron (I burned all of my fingertips doing that :/). Take the section of hair you're curling and loosely twist it (like you're making a dreadlock lol), then wrap around a 1-1 1/2 inch curling iron (over the clamp) and hold for ten seconds. Do this until all of your hair is curled then flip your head over, comb the curls out with your fingers, and spray with a light hairspray to hold. Hope this helps, have a great weekend :-D!

  46. Veronika says:

i love those looser waves and have been going for that look myself lately. I find when I sleep on my curled hair it looks so perfectly undone in the morning 🙂

xoxo and thanks for following my blog too!

  47. Carolyn says:

I'm so glad you like the softlights! It's seriously a life changing product, be prepared for some serious skin compliments!

Sorry for the weirdly anonymous comments, I'm working on getting my blog up and running but I'm being a crazy perfectionist and want it just right before I start putting links up! If I find another amazing product on my next Sephora run, I'll let you know!

    Have a great weekend girl!

  48. Samantha says:

I left something for you on my blog 🙂

    lovee the smashbox shimmer!
and i know some males read blogs; well my boy does anyway!

  50. whitney says:

how amazing is smashbox?! i have the photo finish primer and it really gives you the photoshop look that i'll take ANY day!!

i am just waiting for the day that i can try those beach waves out. i chopped ALL my hair off and regretted it a week later. tips on making hair grow faster?

love your blog! you are beautiful!

  51. Carrie says:

Just found your blog and I LOVE YOU!! Too soon? Hope not.

  52. Jamie says:

A flat iron should absolutely accomplish the loose curl look! Hope that helps. 🙂

  53. Sole Matters says:

Serendipity (AC) and I saw that shoe on Saturday! loves it!

  54. Miss K says:

LOVE loose curls. to get it like LC you need to wrap your hair AROUND the curling iron or use a clampless one. it's super hard and i have yet to manage it.

how i do loose curls, and it's similar to Carre's is using a 1 1/4 curling iron, i curl my hair from the top down and leave the last 2 inches out. it works- try it!

  55. Leesa says:

Found this tutorial…I found it pretty useful.

  56. Chelsei B says:

not sure if it has been mentioned, but this helped me!

    http://cupcakesandcashmere.com/how-to-beachy-waves/

  57. Lindsey says:

well I have naturally wavy hair, so what works for me is after I shower and hair is towel dried, i do not brush it at all. I take the hair and put it in one messy bun on top. When i wake up, my hair is slightly still damp but my waves are in place. I tame them out a litte bit with a comb and then set with suave mouse. IT works for me and is the easiest thing I do. Good luck! I would never wear this look out and about, but I wear it to work all the time. Girls compliment me on it all the time.
