Heartbreak

I wanted to take a moment to talk about something that is on my heart today. Heartbreak-we have all been there. Heartbreak is absolutely one of the most painful things to ever go through. Your heart actually hurts, and there is nothing that anyone can do to make it any better. I remember my first heartbreak, I thought the world was over. I remember laying in my dorm room with Courtney, and crying until my eyes were swollen shut, and then I proceeded to eat 2 entire things of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. Cliché-but true. Then eventually, day by day, things did get better, and I was able to see why that relationship was not meant to be. I don’t even remember what it feels like anymore to have love feelings for that person. While he will always have a special place in my heart, it just wasn’t right for both of us. That’s the great thing about it, your heart does heal, and with each passing day a little more of you feels a little bit better, and little bit stronger, and then you fall in love again, and you realize why the previous relationship wasn’t exactly right. I am still dealing with a multitude of feelings about my engagement that was called off, and am still not ready to talk about that in detail just yet. He was, and is still such a huge part of my life, and helped make me into who I am today. I got an email yesterday from a very special woman in my life, who means the world to me. She is kind of like my second mother, and it brought me to tears at work. Some of the tears were sad, but also some of them were tears of relief almost. Her outlook and advice is so true, and I just wanted to share it with you all-in hopes that maybe someone else out there may find comfort in her words.
“I know you like Pink…so I chose pink 🙂

I have talked to him. I am saddened ……but I want what is best for both of you. Life is hard enough without the commitment and love that 2 people need to endure in this crazy world we live in today. Things are going to be Okay.

If you don’t feel what you need to feel in your heart…you can’t pretend. I don’t mean a friendship, I mean a commitment for life. Sometimes we stick with what is comfortable or what is expected. You cannot worry about hurting someone else or not doing what is truly in your heart.

Breakups hurt—- you cry and you deal with the pain and eventually you move in a new direction. Life has many bumps….that is what will make us stronger.

I have no doubt that you both will find someone and a relationship that is completely fulfilling. You have to love yourself before you can love another.

I only wish the best for you and your future. As I said before, the pain will lessen with each and everyday and there will be a bright and happy future.

I think you are a beautiful person inside and out and love you very much and only want the best for you 🙂

With Love.”

Thank you, you know who you are. And I love you. I am optimistic, and choose to look to the future, and will patiently await for the plan God has for me to unfold.

“And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

  1. What beautiful words…we have all had the heartbreak. But with God and good friends by our side, it makes things a little easier. Hope you have a happy day 🙂

This was so sweet, one of my closest friends had her heart smashed to smithereens last week, I am sending her this post.

  3. Whitney says:

I am a pretty new follower to your blog, even though this a first time I am leaving a comment. Btw, I'm from KY too.

I'm sorry to hear that. Just remember to keep your head held high, and everything happens for a reason. If it is truly meant to be, it will find a way!
