Motherhood is hard, makeup doesn't have to be.
I simplify makeup for busy moms.

To cut…or not to cut.

The struggle is real.

I have been trying to grow my hair out for the past two years. My sweet hair dresser just sighs and says “alright” when I tell her I don’t want to cut it for two appointments to try and let it grow a bit. You see, she knows as well as I do that we will be chopping it just when it gets long enough to really be a functional mullet.

I have said it time and time again, I have the thinnest, finest hair in all the land. Don’t be fooled-you are use to seeing me with some form of extensions in… always. Down, high buns, messy side buns, you name it-that ain’t real. Sister needs help, from some clip ins. You would be appalled at my hair in a bun without my extensions. In fact… allow me to show you.

Exhibit A:

help from extensions, all of ’em.

Exhibit B:

alllll natural. It is so sad! it truly is! ha.

So I think it is time, to cut the hairs. (Don’t get scared, nothing crazy, just something shorter that works better for my type of hair, so I can actually wear it down sans extensions!)

I posted these two highly pinned pics on instagram the other day and got some mixed reviews…mainly cut YES, color NO. ha.

I DO want some more low lights…I think it is time. My  hair has been super blonde for so long, I think people are use to seeing me that way, but I want some darker blonde in there, and some more dimension. And let’s get serious… I am not going to make it that dark…Brittney would never let me!!

I think something in this family of blonde is only a little darker than it is now, and quite doable.

I think I will be happier overall in the summer, having it shorter so I can style it cute and messy without it looking so stringy like it does now. AND-I can still put extensions in when I want to wear it up, because that is a necessity. High buns may be out for awhile… but hey Vanity Fair told me they were “out” already…ha!

{I disagree, I still love high buns.}

I will keep you posted. Going the 16th right before we leave for Hawaii… eeep!!

  1. I love it! If there is anyone who will be able to make it look amazing and styled just right it is you!

  2. P!nky says:

GIIIIIIIIRL I got that cut and coloring, on the right, last spring and I loved it. I had to grow my hair out for the wedding and am trying to see how long I can keep it long now, but when I do cut it again I'm going back to that short cut. It's super fun with curls.

I'm a fine haired sister too, boo!

  3. i LOVE the cut and can totally see you rocking it! I recently posted a pic to my insta as well and got a lot of "just go for it!" comments, so might as well change it up and be a little risky girl! 🙂 you'll look gorgeous regardless!

    🙂

  4. Alysse says:

So excited to see a few posts on here back to back. You've inspired me to begin my own blog. Keep it up sister! And I say the hair cut is a GO!

  5. This week I had my longish hair cut to above my shoulders and I loooooove it! I say – cut! x

  6. Oh go for it girl! My hair is so long right now and I have an appointment this afternoon to get is cut. I think I am going to gradually go for a shorter do. First to my shoulders then go for shorter!

  7. Cut it!!! And then post how to make it pretty and wavy with a tutorial video. 🙂

  8. jeffandem says:

I actually have all three of those pictures pinned haha. I have a similar hair cut and love it. I curl mine with the straightener, it is so easy.

  9. If anyone can make this work, it is you….and we both know Britt won't steer you wrong on the color 😉 I say go for it. You can still do something awesome on days you want your weave.

  10. Emily says:

    Cut! So so cute!!

  11. MakeMeUpMia says:

Love love love the short cuts! I'm with you on the high bun, I still love it 😉

  12. The second picture of the two side by side is AWESOME! I think you could rock any look b/c you do wonderful things with hair already. 🙂

  13. Melanie says:

Love love love that cut with the waves. And the darker color will look awesome on you!

  14. Nadine Lynn says:

I have super thin hair as well! It is just awful! I had taken a cut similar to what you are looking at to my hair dresser but I was scared and told her just to trim it. Maybe I will reconsider if I see yours looking all cute!

  15. melissa says:

I think it's going to be gorgeous! Can't wait to see it.

  16. Kenji says:

Cut ti! I think you would totally rock the shorter hair!

  17. Katie says:

I think that color at the bottom you posted and cut would be dashing on you 😉 you can pull off anything! now take me to hawaii.

  18. Megan Stokes says:

I'd kill to be able to style my hair the way you do! Looks gorgeous in every.single.pic. I think low lights are a great way to make a difference, without doing anything too risky! I constantly struggle with this myself. In my mind, I want to have long flowing ombre locks, but in the mirror, I will always have mid length blonde hair. It's just me (with the exception of a few low lights every now and then!).

  19. Mary Beth says:

I also have extremely baby fine and thin hair! I am trying to grow my hair out for my sister's wedding in November, but it is so hard! The longer it gets, the stringier it looks. I also get my hair highlighted every 6-8 weeks, which I am sure doesn't help. You are so lucky that you are gifted with doing hair! I wish I could I buy extensions and have my hair look like yours! 🙂

  20. Savannah says:

Oh those cuts are adorable! They would really suit your face. I say do it! Hair will grow back!

  22. I totally feel your pain hun.. I have super fine hair and it always just looks so flat. I need to invest in some extensions or clip ins. Your hair always looks so fabulous, I wish I could walk into a beauty place and say "I want the Pink Lou-Lou!"

  23. Katie says:

Girl…! I am totally in your boat. As a hair stylist I see beautiful hair ALL DAY LONG and I of course got ugly hair gene. 🙁 super cute cut! go for it!

  24. Mrs Gable says:

Love it! You would look so cute with it that short.

  25. I think you would look gorgeous with short hair! I just had a tonne of hair chopped off myself and it just feels so liberating and I swear I feel lighter 🙂

Love the new style! So so pretty and I think you will look great with that cut. Have you tried the "no poo" method for your hair? I've recently started using it after reading so many positive posts. It's supposed to make your hair grow thicker, fuller, and healthier because it doesn't strip your hair. Can't wait to see the new look!

  27. Go for it! I love the inspiration photos!

  28. I want to see your hair!!! I cut my hair two weeks ago – 5 inches gone!!!!!!!!!!! I freaking hate it. But I think you will look fantastic with a bob like that. Dying to see.

Miss you girl, hope all is well.

  29. I still think that cut would look insanely cute on you!
