Motherhood is hard, makeup doesn't have to be.
I simplify makeup for busy moms.

Adding vibrancy to my life… and closet!!

I was pretty pumped when I was asked to partner with Crystal Light Liquid to help promote their new  “Explore the New Flavors” campaign by taking the challenge to add vibrancy to my life. Get creative? OK. Where do I start?

I was immediately inspired by this theme from Crystal Light Liquid promoting their Peach Bellini liquid.

Try and tell me that doesn’t remind you of my closet. LOL. So I decided that is where I would choose to add some excitement, and vibrancy to my life, by decorating that closet of mine. I grabbed a a glass of my Peach Bellini Crystal Light Liquid and got to work.

I am constantly inspired by all things vintage, romantic, and girlie. This is kinda what it looked like in my head when I dreamt up my closet, LOL. Bling here, romance there, fru-fru overload, but it is finally starting to come together.

I decided to start by adding some excitement and updates to the large corner shelf beside my vanity. I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of cash, so I tried to think of things I could re-purpose that I already had.

I had always wanted one of those fancy headband holders you see a la pinterest, so I took two of these circular martini glass boxes I had laying around, and decided they were perfect to hold my festive hair accessories.

After several hot glue burns, and almost giving up, I finally did achieve something I thought was semi cute and worthy of being in the closet, LOL.

I also thought outside the box and bought this adorable cake stand to add to one of the shelves to display some makeup and things. This really added a girly element that I just love!

This pink purse you see here, is a gift from my grandma. It was hers, she got it in the 50’s  I believe from my grandpa as a gift when they were in Washington, DC. Isn’t that precious? Love that is has found a new home with me 🙂

So here is my corner shelf after some sprucing up, and re-decorating! I love! Do you see the 8×10 of me and Carrie hiding in there? Yes, I AM that crazy.

I also wanted to take advantage of the shelf above my dresses, by adding some pictures, and cute girlie accents. Before, it was a holding spot for my sweatshirts, and embarrassingly not attractive.

I bought the little vase and flower puff thing from Home goods, the big white three frames from Marshall’s, and I re-purposed a cardboard hat box I had laying around (you can actually see it in the before pic!)

You see I started playing with things, realized I needed some height in there, so I took part of an old bed skirt I had laying around, and hot glued that sucker onto that hat box, and voila. Instant height and texture. It’s purpose beyond that? Absolutely nothing. But I do like how it turned out 😉

So that is a little tour of some recent ways I decided to add vibrancy to my life, and my closet! What are some things that inspire you in your home decorating? I love getting to see how everyone gets their inspiration, and how differently we all chose to decorate our places! Check out the Crystal Light Liquid  “Explore New Flavors” campaign here, to get some vibrant inspiration for yourself! And if all else fails, just put on a sequined dress and stand in the middle of your closet, you’ll feel immediately more vibrant. HA.

Let me know what inspires you to be more vibrant!! Leave a comment below for the chance to win $100 Visa gift card! And do yourself a favor and sample some champagne, Peach Bellini style!

  25. miss t says:

I believe adding vibrancy to life is adding things that make it multi-dimentional (after all, diamonds have multiple facets, why can't I?!). Last year, I did fitness competitions. I was so focused on working out and eating fish and asparagus that I literally turned dull. I forgot how to love life! So I decided to stop.

I added some "vibrancy" by spending more time with loved ones, doing things I have never tried or hadn't done in a while! I signed up for paddle-boarding contest (failed miserably), the Hubs and I spent one afternoon just getting big-kid drunk off of martinis, I ate three pieces of cake at a wedding (after not having sugar for a year, I was a bit sugar-buzzed), I've traveled to three different countries in the last year, etc. I don't regret a moment I didn't spent in the gym for the memories I made outside it! 😛

  26. Blogs like yours and a few others and Pinterest inspire me to add more vibrance!

  33. Kelly says:

I am trying out this "Miss Independent" thing, and recently bought a house on my own, too. It needs some updating, but I am all about DIY! It's kind of empowering to take something old and lifeless and turn it into something "vibrant!" I think it's those treasured, sentimental items we put into our homes that make them really special. My closet aspires to be like yours when it grows up! 🙂 Just beautiful!

  34. I am *trying* to step out of my comfort zone with clothes and makeup. Maybe it's time that my old reliable "one pop of color" rule got a little makeover!

  35. Beth says:

Pinterest and blogs are huge places I get ideas from. And also, just walking around stores that I wouldn't normally shop in. The colors and textures push my boundaries and make me think outside the box a little.
BTW, LOVE your closet. I asked my husband if I could have one like that one day and he basically laughed at me, but a girl can dream haha 🙂

  36. What inspires me to be a more vibrant would have to be Pinterest, Instagram, Blogs; I am totally inspired by some of the amazing people that I follow. They inspire me to add a little spice to my life and try different things, which I am usually not too good at! 🙂
