Motherhood is hard, makeup doesn't have to be.
I simplify makeup for busy moms.

You want a personal life update? YOU GOT IT.

So it’s no secret I have been a little distracted. If you know me in real life you are well aware that I am one stop away from looney town.

I had a proverbial bag of flaming poo left on my blog door step recently. You are requesting more life updates, and less endorsements, which I completely understand, so first things first, let’s address a few things:

1. I am aware there have been several reviews recently. I agree to product reviews months in advance, and they just all happened to fall right now, so sorry about that, it definitely wasn’t my plan. I tried my best to break them up with other content.

and 2. I get TONS of emails requesting reviews, endorsements etc… and I only say yes to ones I really actually use, like, and feel like promoting. 🙂

So now that that is dealt with… let’s move on, k?

This isn’t exactly how I had planned this post… but here goes nothing!

Yup. I bought a house.

Well, I kinda bought a house… I say ‘kinda’ because we haven’t closed yet…but I am living in the house…

Say what?

VERY fortunately I know the seller, and he remodeled the entire thing for me, and we are just waiting on some final paperwork. And let me tell you… whoever said buying a house is fun, is LYING to you.

It is the most stressful process I have ever been through in my LIFE! Remodeling takes longer than expected, banks take longer than expected. I am not sure why they need a blood and hair sample (I kid I kid) but they really do… fun stuff right??

So, my lack of witty, quality life updates is mostly due to the fact that most days I am so stressed out I hardly make it till noon without a glass of wine, and partly because I have no idea where my computer is.

Once this is all said and done, I will be so so happy with my brand new PLL princess pad… it is just getting it finished that seems like a never ending process!

It is an older home, that has been 100% completely remodeled. Everything is new… and I maaaaaay have turned a bedroom into a closet.

YUP. sure did.

However my closet currently looks like this… because it is not finished and I cannot hang anything. haha 😉

It is a wonder I make it to work dressed in the mornings, because the dryer I bought isn’t working… so I can’t do laundry.

I found a leak under my brand new beautiful under mounted sink… so that was really exciting.

I ran into an uninvited house guest with longer legs than Sadie and nearly hyperventilated.

And to make matter worse, I constantly feel guilty about my poor, sweet roommates who have joined me living in said squalor. Chrissy is sleeping on the ground because her box springs won’t fit upstairs (awesome!)

Nicole seems to be the only one in the house who slightly has it together thus far…

At least we have copious amounts of wine? Glass half full people.

We also put the Christmas tree up this past weekend in attempts to make it feel more homey while we are in this funky transition phase. Now I have something pretty to look at besides my gorgeous wood floors while I sit in the living room without cable, and polish off the second bottle of pinot grigio, willing the bank to call me with a closing date.

Not ONE word about this tree being up so early… not.one.word.

Work is also crazy… it is my busy time, so my office looks like this:

And I am pretty sure I am developing some sort of stress rash on my neck…

Leeeee sigh.

I really am NOT complaining… it is straight comical at this point. I just want you all to know what the heck has been going on, so maybe it makes a little more sense why i haven’t exactly been myself lately.

cut me some slack, yo?!?

Squatting in a new house that isn’t officially signed sealed delivered mine for the past two weeks hasn’t exactly been the ritz.  I will be one very happy girl when this is all said and done, and my crazy town life is returned to it’s somewhat normal state of blog posts filled with poofs and pugs.

Thank you for those of you who have stuck around, I love ya. Can’t wait to do a video tour,

Cribs style.

xoxo

  1. Lindsey says:

I just came to your page hoping for your post for today and I got my wish. Your life sounds a lot like mine. And do I even need to tell you how much I enjoyed the fact that the word squalor made it in the post? No, I don't.

  2. Bri says:

    Congrats hunny!!!!

  3. sfitzg2 says:

congratulations on the new digs! Looks like a great place!

  4. Kenzie Smith says:

Congrats on the new house that is almost signed (: No wonder you are so busy! Life is straight hectic for you, but it will all fall together soon. Either way I am totally excited for you!! Can't wait to hear and see more about the house.

  5. Sami says:

Holy moly lady that is one gorgeous closet! I cannot wait for the Cribs style video tour. Until then, keep your chin up! Even when your life is crazy I still envy the heck out of it so that's saying something 🙂 Sending lots of love!

  6. Oh sister friend, you know our lives are looking pretty similar right about now – I get it. I have considered buying an entire new wardrobe since I moved. Maybe I should put up a Christmas tree…

  7. That closet is AMAZEBALLS!!!!!!! Soooo jealous!! If only I could talk the hubs into doing that for me!!! Congrats on the new house – almost new house!! In the end it will all be worth it!

  8. Rachel says:

    Oh my goodness!!! CONGRATS!
This is very exciting and I'm obsessed with that closet. Now I know what I want since we are, too, house shopping/buying soon!
Girl, just let Jesus Take the Wheel. I say you get that framed in your closet.
    😉

  9. Danielle says:

How awesome is that closet?! Love.

If your roomie doesn't already know, they make queen splits in box springs. There's a super cheap place in town off Palumbo Drive that stocks them. I think you can get them for like 100-200 bucks. We had the same problem in our new house!

  10. Babygirl says:

    Your new digs look beyond gorgeous!! And i'm officially jealous of that darn closest..holy moses, what a beauty! And I love you early Christmas tree, If I'd found the one I want, mine would be up too! {side note…new house, high ceilings, calls for BIG tree..so can't wait to decorate that monster when I find her}

  11. Lauren says:

Buying a house almost single handedly put me in the looney bin. Most-awful-process-ever. To this day (two years later) I'm STILL not over it. I love my house but BOY….if I had to go through THAT again? Let's just say I'm NEVER moving 🙂

  12. Sara says:

Congratulations on the new digs! 🙂

Pretty sure I would have wet myself if I would have seen that spider…..

  13. Wow… I'm sorry your life is really stressed right now. Mine is too. I've noticed this trend in the blogging world lately. Maybe we need a group blogger relax session?? Anyway, I hope everything gets better dear!
    xoxo

  14. Coley says:

OMG that closet room is amazing & beautiful!!! So jealous!

  15. K says:

Congrats on the house! I know waiting for a closing date it hard. (OH trust me I KNOW!) But OMG I am in love with your closet. I know have to convince my husband to build me a closet in a bedroom!

  16. Carolyn says:

Congrats on the house!! That's so exciting! And to say I'm jealous of your new closet would be a HUGE understatement!! 🙂 I can't wait to see it all come together! Keep breathing girlie… it'll all work out!

  17. Brooke says:

Yesterday, I thought – I may need to send out a search party for Pink Lou Lou. For real.

I'm so glad for a life update – and that house, is to die for. Need a roomie? I'll let you do my hair like always and drink wine with you : )

I'm so happy for you, girl : )

  18. julia rose. says:

Packing up and moving into your closet right this minute!! Amaze-balls. Just amaze-balls. I'm sorry things are so stressful though and I hope it gets better for you!! Sending you my love and prayers sweet girl!

  19. melissa says:

Oh, girl. You are far more diplomatic than I could be. People are bitching about sponsored posts and frequency of blog updates? This is not Showtime. You are not paying for entertainment, people. Stop bitching! (See how much classier you are?)

Sorry things have been crazy. Your new place looks fantastic. I hope they get all the kinks worked out soon and that it's officially yours ASAP! Hang in there, friend!

  20. shay says:

sometimes real life gets in the way of blogging, happens to us all. Congrats on the house and can't wait to see it when it's all set up and decorated!

  21. ~BB~ says:

PLL – thankyouthankyouthankyou for this post. I needed it today. And cool points to you for giving me the first (MUCH NEEDED) laugh of the day. Not that I am laughing at your crazy situation – but like you said, straight up comical. Beautiful house!

  22. Lindsey says:

When it rains it pours! At least you have a super fab closet to look forward to. You have to have a sense of humor about these things. My sister got married right in the middle of my busy season at work. I work in a psychiatry department and I was this.close to laying on someone's couch. I threw a temper tantrum one day. Not my finest moment but I couldn't handle another person asking something of me. I was at my wits end. So, drink another glass of wine and plan to take some me time when life settles down so you can enjoy that fab new home of yours! 🙂

    XO

  23. Jenny says:

What a GORGEOUS closet room! I turned one of my smaller bedrooms into a dressing room but then I rented out the house so that's no longer. POO.

Buying a house IS totally 100% STRESS CITY!!!

  24. jessica says:

wow that is so exciting! i love your new closet and am so jealous! can't wait to see the full tour. i'm in the process of selling my house, i wish i could just snap my fingers and it all be over with.

glad you're back to bloggin 🙂

  25. Seriously jealous of your closet!! Makes me want to remodel one of our extra rooms…

And I totally agree, buying a house was the most stressful thing ever. They pretty much want you to sign over your life along with your first born… Then they take their good ole time getting back to you.

Just keep on drinking that wine!!

    *CHEERS!*

  26. Katie says:

YAY! You shared the house digs 🙂 That closet is everything I imagined it to be..I can only imagine how good it will look without the massive clothes pile. Don't worry love, everyone needs breaks and life gets busy! 🙂

  27. Robin says:

That is the biggest spider in the world. I wanted to talk about how awesome your closet is but I I couldn't understand how you could survive that kind of terror. Then, I scrolled down and saw all the wine and I knew! 🙂 haha Congratulations on the house! I hope the last details come through quickly and you can be all settled in time for the holidays!! P.s. Sadie looks so cute in that kitchen picture 🙂

  28. Kait says:

Wow! this is so exciting PLL! And rash smash..you look beautiful as ever!

  29. seriously obsessed with your closet!!! I need that in my life:)

  34. Elle Noel says:

  36. Kate says:

Girl, I know all about that hair-pulling home buying process. Mine took nearly a year! But that Closet, SWOON, it's totally worth it!

Seriously, can I come live in your closet? That won't be weird, right?

  37. Oh Em Gee gurl I am SOOOOOOOO STINKING HAPPY FOR YA! Now just crossing everything available for me to cross in hopes the bank calls soon… real soon!!!! Eeeek so far it looks absolutely gorgey!

  38. That closet!! I die. NO FAIR.

  39. oh. my. word. that closet is absolutely to die for! We just moved two weeks ago and I know what you mean about the whole "live here but don't really LIVE here" – we closed on the house we were selling and the house we were buying on the exact same days so moving out and in was quite the process. Congrats on the new place!

  40. Kristen says:

Well…I guess those qualify for lack of blogging. 😉

Congrats on the house though! For reals. You'll love it once the problems subside and it's actually yours. And it's gorgeous! TOTALLY jealous of your closet. Heck, let me come organize it for you just so I can sit and pretend it's mine.

  41. Congratulations!! What a purty house and I DIE for that pink closet! Every girl's dream! Keep the vino flowing! xo

  42. Wow, girl. I am glad you are alive at this point! Congrats on the house! I LOVE that your tree is up! I'm about to die to put mine up too. Good luck with things calming down soon! 🙂

  43. Kelsey says:

Umm I LOVE that room I mean closet! geez it is gorgeous as does that kitchen that you can see a glimpse of. Congrats!

  46. Gina says:

I've been wondering about you, lady! I know full well how stressful buying a house is and you are not exaggerating. hang in there. It will all be worth it.

  47. Elle says:

i haven't really minded the reviews but this is way better! congrats on the house! the floors are beautiful and that closet may have made my whole day!

  48. Melanie says:

Yay for a PLL personal post and a new house! I can't wait to see more pictures of the house!

  49. Jill says:

    holy.freakin.crap!
Well, your house is a beauty, and I hope this is all just a funny crazy memory in the very near future, and it is officially YOURS on paper 🙂 Okay so mayybbbbeee we'll be able to get together for drinks again one of these days. I mean it's been nearly 2 years since we spent 5 or 6 hours at Harry's, right?! 😛

  50. Nikole E! says:

omg! nobody better give you a hard time, that is crazzzzy! but I am a little jealous of your sorority house set up! so fun!

  51. Casey says:

Well, I for one, have had no problem with the reviews! I think you are wonderful about making them your own and not sounding like you're just copy and pasting what they want you to say!!

Also – CONGRATS on the house!! That is amazing!

  52. I feel your pain!!! House hunting is a NIGHTMARE… we ended that process and settled on a condo while wedding planning. And I am SO ready for a house but so NOT ready to start the home shopping process. ugh… dreadful. But your new place looks gorg!! Super jealous of that closet!

  53. I looovee that closet! And buying a house is seriously the moat stressful decision I've ever made. We bid on 3 houses before finally closing 3 weeks before my baby was born. We said this was going to be our starter home but heck – I don't want to go through that process again so it may be our forever home!

  54. lori says:

your new place looks awesome… loving that closet! hope you are able to relax a bit soon!

  55. Congratulations on the new house gurlie! Such huge news!! Wishing you and Sadie all the best in the new digs 🙂

And I hear ya on the busy time at work… 4th quarter is unreal. Must.drink.wine..

  56. Virginia says:

Congrats on the house that you are living in but is not really yours yet! hahaha That closet of yours is amazing, but definitely a PLL closet! 🙂 I can't wait for a house tour when it is yours and maybe when you get those clothes off the floor. Kidding about the clothes! 🙂

  57. We close on our home this Thursday and I could not be more relieved to be done with all of the shenanigans of buying a home. Our house was also rebuilt from an older home. I totally know the feeling of just wanting to have your life back! But Congrats on your big purchase!

  58. Shannon says:

Lord help. I almost died over that closet. Green with jealousy over here. I've felt super busy and stressed lately myself(I'm blaming the upcoming holiday's)but I've clearly got nothing on you. Best of luck getting everything taken care of and no worries, we'll all be around when things get back on regular schedule. 🙂

  59. Taryn says:

I closed on my house just over 3 years ago. It was the most stressful thing I've ever done. Plus, I also moved in a month before I closed and started painting, etc. The whole time I was freaking out and waiting for everything to fall through! Good luck with everything…the house looks like it will be beautiful!

  60. Kari says:

    Kari

  63. Kerr says:

  64. Valerie says:

OMG Congrats on the house and when I saw your closet I about DIED of envy!!! Sorry it is stressful, but hey on the other hand a closet like that is worth it! The house seems just beautiful!

Congrats on the house and your closet room!

  72. Congrats on the house, moving is SUCH a bitch though.

And gurrrl, all you had to do was post those photos of your room/closet and everyone would shut up. I'm so jealous, that room is STUNNING.

  73. I totally feel ya! Buying a house is super stressful. My hubby and I just bought a house and I'm pretty sure that I all but offered up me someday first born child in the the deal. Hang in there it will totally be worth it in the end!

    Leesa

  89. Jen Watts says:

How very exciting!! And that closet is amazing- exactly what I'd imagine a PLL closet to be! Hang in there sweet friend.

Ps.. I had a weird rash on my neck and wrists recently and a doc informed me it was likely from perfume (duh). Apparently I'm allergic to Prada 🙁

  90. Allison says:

Congrats on the house and you don't need to apologize for your blog ever cause its YOUR BLOG, I can't believe people actually complain about what your posting or not posting. Geez people should just be happy when your able to post. I don't understand why some people treat bloggers like they are paying them for posts, like they're a unhappy customer, lol! Hope you have a great thanksgiving!!!

  91. Sarah says:

Hi there! Longtime lurker, first comment(-:

This post finally brought me out of the woodwork because I just closed on my first house on Tuesday, and I, too, took pre-possession beforehand. (Whatever you do, do NOT Google pre-possession. The horror stories provided way too much ammunition to my worried mind.) We are still in that weird half-unpacked state now. Even though the process was incredibly stressful, it is so worth it to be a homeowner (-: Congratulations to you and best of luck for a smooth closing!

Thank you also for all you do on this fabulous, entertaining, and very sweet blog! I will try to comment saaaalightly more often than I have in the past! xoxo

  92. Suki says:

OMG I am in the process of buying a house and I feel extreme stress and anxiety. Everyday I feel that the bank is not going to approve the loan. We are closing in 3 weeks and I'm developing a rash too. This process is NOT fun! It's so nice to read your blog! Don't worry there are others out there with the same problems!
