Motherhood is hard, makeup doesn't have to be.
I simplify makeup for busy moms.

What’s yo favorite color baby?

Let’s get one thing straight, pink is my favorite color. Wipe that surprised look off your face.
But I probably have 2 pink clothing items, it’s just not something I wear often. Recently I have become increasingly aware that I am in a color rut.
It’s chronic, and severe.
{cream ruffle coat from Marshalls, tan Longchamp tote}
Here I am in my natural, neutral habitat. Tweeting. Texting. something of the sort.
{Brown ruffle sleeve shirt, Arden B. Cream sparkle scarf Express, brown earrings Kenneth Cole, watch Fossil}
Out with big sis, and Jami last weekend. What do you know… cream and black dress.
{note to self, do not EVER wear this cut of dress again. it does NOTHING for you PLL. sick. haha}
p.s. UK fans, you can rest assured I asked this sir above what his name was. I am an embarrassment to KY fans, seriously.
Aaaaaand low and behold. Cream, brown, and leopard scarf today.
{scarf is Sperry, and I stole it from Chrissy}
I feel like every piece of clothing I own is straight out of my naked palette.
Will someone please take me shopping immediately to buy some clothes that fall outside of this spectrum? I need a stylist. Currently accepting applications. 😉

  1. Mine are nude and pink- pretty much the same as yours! Love those colors together! And coral is my favorite for summer! Cute pics girl, you always look like your having such a great time!

  2. Hi PLL! New follower here… I love your blog!!

A fun spring/summer outfit I just built is a pair of hot pink velvet booty/heels, royal blue skinny jeans, and a bright orange silk tank top. Tons of color and really easy!

  3. L.Voss says:

You arent the only one my favorite color is purple and i own maybe three things that are purple I worry about being the giant purple people eater if I do wear it

  4. I like pink too but I never wear! Only thing that I have pink is a jacket and a pair of sweat pants LOL but that's okay. Your outfits are totally cute! Nothing wrong with colorless.

  5. first off, you look great in the dress and don't think otherwise!Theres nothing wrong with your color choice!!! but then again I wear black all the time.lol I think everyone has a go too color .But, i am blonde too and recently starting loving red/cranberry colors!!o and i would love to see you sport something NEON! just because i love it but have no clue where to start lol..

  6. Sami says:

Girl you need to get out there and get you some colored skinnies! I wasn't sure about the super bright colors so I got a pair of Maroon colored cords at F21 for $20! They are so fun and an easy way to add color so you can still wear your neutral tops! 🙂

  7. Lia Joy says:

I find myself wearing neutrals a lot too. Black, white, grey, brown, tan… My staples. *sigh*

And where did you get that amazing iPhone/credit card holder!?! I need one stat!

  8. There's nothing wrong with neutrals! They obviously work for you and if it works for you, stick with it (a la Kate Middleton). A bright scarf, shoe, or bag could go a long way toward spiffing up that wardrobe too without a total overhaul 🙂

  9. Ashley says:

I don't have much in the way of nuetral! I use to only wear nuetrals and then, like you, i kept seeing pictures of me in NO color – no pop! So I decided to change that =) I had to really make an effort to be aware of that when I was shopping and really think in color =) at least you can pull off nuetral and look fabulous! =)

  10. I am the same exact way. I own so much black and grey!

  11. I think all of our closets have some kind of a theme going on. I feel like mine is mostly black, gray, cream/white, and gold. I tend to buy pieces that I know will be versatile and go with several different items/outfits. Which is great, but I sure do love that pop of color!

Btw.. you look fabulous in all your neutrals!

  12. Brooke says:

Everything I wear is black. It's an issue.

No idea who that man is in the pic. No clue. And I consider myself a knowledgable fan. Don't feel bad. : )

  13. Bethany says:

Whatevs girl.. you are ROCKIN that dress! Where did you get it??

  14. Caroline says:

I love the neutrals too, but there are so many fun new colors rolling out this spring. I'm loving all of the color blocking. It's fun!

  15. Sarah says:

Take this from the girl whose outfits used to consist of classic, neutral staples mixed with one color/print…don't be afraid to mix things up! I've recently become very intentional about mixing things up and wearing things in ways I haven't in the past. I'm getting much more use out of my clothing and I'm really loving the way things look. Today I'm rocking basic denim jeans, a purple/subdued fuschia cami, and a pink cardigan. Another favorite recent color combination was teal and royal blue. Before you shop, take a look around in your closet and make what you've got work for you!

  16. shay says:

i feel ya on this one girl… i feel like my wardrobe is pretty much the same… i really tried to "mix it up" a little lately but those darn neutrals have a way of just sneaking back into my outfits… hopefully with spring coming soon, you can try to incorporate some fun new colorful pieces that go with the neutrals you already own!

  17. Erin says:

Girl I have the sammmmmme problem. I think it's called chromophobia (seriously lol)

  18. Carly says:

I think I have a color palette problem too. I cannot stay away from nautical stripes. For some reason anything blue and white striped is needed in my wardrobe. I'm just going to blame it on being a UK fan!

  19. Lauren says:

You still look AMAZING! Be proud of your color pattern girl! 🙂

  20. I am loving all the neutral colors and especially that last scarf so cute! 🙂

  21. I have that Naked palette & I love it. I'm all about the neutrals too and when I buy something with color I always tend to skip over it!

  22. Heather says:

i'm the same way! i love pink… but i am drawn to browns and black!

  23. Alexandra says:

I am the same way! Pink is my favorite color, but all of my clothes are black and navy. Weird.

I think colorful skinny jeans will be huge this spring. I've seen them at Express, Target, and American Eagle. I also think you have a lot of color in your accessories (Exhibit A: Your previous post on LOL Designs).

Lastly, I think your clothes look pretty on you, so no need to mess with a good thing!

  24. You don't, you are taking your skills from Vera Wang and ME. lol Everything I own is either black, gray, white or gray. lol I believe everyone has a Clothes favorite color and a life color. I like POC but I couldn't wear a colorful outfit without over thinking and feeling like a freak. Although I admire it on others it isn't for me!

  25. Cami says:

    I adore sperry 😀

<3-Cami from First Day of My Life

  26. Hannah says:

I'm totally with you except the majority of what I've been wearing has been revolving around black. Not in a goth way, haha 😉 I try to throw in a dash of color but I am totally in a rut. I hoping that once Spring gets closer that will help brighten up my fashion mood! Have a great day 🙂 xoxo

  27. Your neutrals are perfect though for the winter! They are quite soft looking in comparison to some of the reds that a lot of people opt for this time of year. When Spring rolls around I'm sure you will be more color-happy with your wardrobe 🙂

  28. Monica says:

I'm guilty of owning A LOT of grey pieces. I don't know why but it seems to be what I have the most of in my closet

  29. JMB says:

Uhmm own that coat in tan haha I get so many compliments on my Marshall find as well…love the little bow in the back! I actually LIKE you in neutrals…annnnd Kentucky blue…duh. xo

  30. CALLIE says:

I love all of your neutrals!! You don't need to go shopping bc neutrals are great. Just throw on some fun colorful accessories, like a colorful statement necklace, scarf or shoes!!!

  31. Neutrals are GREAT!!! I love neutrals myself! Just add few accessories in color here and there and you are good to go!)

    XO,

  32. Chelsea says:

You and me both, sister! I looove neutrals and earthy shades right now! They're great colors for certain skin tones and they definitely look great on you, duh 😉 I absolutely adore {and must purchase} that animal print scarf!!!

  33. Martha says:

Don't sweat it, girl! I wear black, white, brown, and grey ALL the time. I think I need to venture out of those colors. BTW, I <3 your blog-you crack me up!

  34. Katie says:

Well if it were up to me I think you look just fab in neutrals and can pull them off like no other!!! 🙂 But a little color never hurt anybodyyyyyy….especially if they are hot pink pants from H&M. GET ON THAT!

  35. You look great in the neutrals! I am wearing almost the same thing today…neutral top and leopard scarf! Great minds think alike:) Love your blog!

  36. At least you are a little more neutral than me ha my wardrobe is total goth these days… black and grey is about it!! We just need Spring to get here stat so we can go on a shopping splurge! 🙂

  37. The neutral shades are all so nice – but I have found the easiest way to get into the seasons brights are via bright skinny jeans. Once I started with red there was no stopping – now its emerald and next I'm getting tangerine! Keep us posted! 🙂

  38. lori says:

i would LOVE to be your stylist… you're so cute you'd be super fun to dress 🙂

i always dress neutral and then accessorize with a colorful scarf or something fun.

  39. Heather says:

LOVE me some neutrals…and if you rock it, then why stop? And rock it you do my friend 🙂

  40. Amy says:

I think neutrals look great on you. If you're happy in neutrals stick with 'um. Kinda like Victoria Beckum sticks with solid colored shift dresses. It just works.

  41. PLL!!! How did you not know mr. miller's name? i think your need a spankin for that one. ha!

  42. Ashley says:

I think that neutral is ok! Just throw in some colorful jewelry every now and then and no one will know the difference! I think all my makeup pallets are neutral so maybe I should work on that!

    Neutral just works with EVERYTHING!

  43. ughhh Girl, I am the SAME WAY in the winter. I think it's because I don't know what colors look good on my pale wintery skin. However, my summer wardrobe is a freakin rainbow… it makes me SO happy when I switch my closets out! ahh only about 5 weeks til March {countdown}!!

  44. I seriously cannot figure out what to wear in the winter. Totally rocked pink yesterday because I was tired of looking so BLAH!

  45. Liv Kit says:

Pinks, and neutral colors for me.

  46. Jill says:

I think you look great but understand your dilemma. Lately I've made a conscious effort to purchase things in "colors" (purple, blue, mustart yellow, etc). Otherwise I naturally go for black, grey, cream, brown…you know, something I can "wear with everything." One day recently I wore a mustard yellow cardigan with a royal blue top underneath. I felt out of my comfort zone, but I think it looked nice.

  47. Amber says:

I'm right there with you. I have to force myself to buy color. I'm better in the summer months – but during the fall/winter I am black/brown/beige/grey. Blah!

  48. Justine says:

You can never go wrong with neutrals!! I love them! I do the same thing, especially when I go to work, it just makes life easier! Not that i don't LOVE color. LOVE your blog!

    xx

  49. EmCain says:

ugh, I am in the same boat… The girls at work call me the 'black and white girl'
…I need to get with it. Maybe we should form a support group?
    xoxo- EmCain

  50. meghan says:

My favorite color is purple and I own only two purple pieces and dress in a lot of neutrals too.

  51. Elizabeth says:

I love the same colors you do and I'm a blonde as well. 🙂 Those colors look extremely well on ladies with a pale complexion and blonde hair. But if you do want more color, my recommendation would be for more pastel and medium tones because these colors still enable us to see your beautiful face instead of the dark or bright clothes you have on. 🙂 I personally love salmons and blues on me because I have blue eyes. I'm loving your blog, BTW. Blessings!

  52. Jaclyn Kaye says:

Girrrrl, is that an iPhone case with a CREDIT CARD HOLDER? Do tell, do tell!! Love! And.. have you heard of the monogrammed/personalized OtterBox cases? I need to get on this ASAP!

  53. Kaytee says:

I'm a blondie and also a neutral-betch. Sometimes you just have to stick with the classics. I try to buy brights, but H-A-T-E how I look and the clothes rot away in my closet.

  54. I'm in the same boat as you! I LOVE bright colors but my wardrobe is pretty much all neutral; black, white, grey, crey, tan…I'm even wearing tan boots, tan and cream striped sweater, white shirt…siiigh! Even my style board on pinterest is all stripes and neutrals…

Let me know when we are going shopping! 🙂

  55. Day Old News says:

Hot pink girl, it's the color of the season! Then mint for Spring, that is pretty neutral so you can handle it. I remember when you sent me a pic of a dress of a wedding and I was like, but it's brown that's not you and you were like, um yes, that's me. My closet is dominated by black, but I do have every jewel tone in the rainbow in there as well.

  56. lil desiqua says:

Neutrals are so great Urban Decay came out with a Naked2 (no joke!).

Just add some pops of colors in there- Love your style!!

  57. Lindsey says:

ha to DON's comment. You are hot. That is all.

  58. you do not need a stylist, you are gorgeous in every way- thee most girly girl there ever was! i adore you, makeup, hair and your style:)

  59. Heather says:

where did you get that phone cover?

  60. Amber says:

I'm the same way.. all of my clothes are black, gray or navy. It's awful. We need some serious color in our lives girl! P.S. Love your scarf in the last pic!

  61. MerelyMarie says:

Living Colour!!! Ha!…in the chance that you weren't referencing that song, please disregard.

If you want to incorporate color, start small…a red bag, a mint colored scarf, yellow shoes:) Have fun!

Oh, and I'm addicted to wearing neutrals too.

  62. I have this same "problem" with clothes and makeup. I always end up with brown, brown, and leopard print. But it just looks so good on us blondies!
