Motherhood is hard, makeup doesn't have to be.
I simplify makeup for busy moms.

My sister, my friend.

There are a handful of you all out there that are pregnant with your third baby girl (shout out Jillian and Sarah!) and that got me thinking a little bit about sisters.

If you have been around these parts for any length of time, then you know how close my relationship is with my sisters. I am the oldest (ahem, not that much older) and it is a role that I enjoy so much more than anything. I love these girls.

Yep, these ones.
Perhaps my favorite quality they each possess, is their ability to make use of their surroundings so eloquently.
As you see here, Beck checks her makeup in a car mirror…
And apparently Hannah spins vinyl…?
😉 LOL
No but seriously, my sisters are my best friends. They are equally as beautiful on the inside, as they are on the outside. I am SO proud of each of their many accomplishments, and the women they have grown to be. Which you probably know already because I talk about them 24/7 😉
I guess I have just always taken it for granted that all sibling relationships are like the ones I have. Sadly, I learn more and more that isn’t always the case. And that makes my little heart so sad. I am beyond blessed to have these two as sisters, and to have grown up sharing my life with them. We share the same memories, the same stories. We know what the other one is thinking without anyone speaking. It truly is unique, and I am so lucky to have these two crazies 😉
I saw this today on baby sis’ instagram and it just made my day. So sweet.
What did someone say that one time? “Stay close to your siblings, they are the closest link to your past, and the ones most likely to be there in your future”
Well, somebody said that…I know it.
My prayer for all of you girls out there with sisters, is that you cherish those relationships. It is never too late to start, either 🙂
My prayer for you mommies out there with daughters is that you enjoy every second watching your girls grow together, and encourage them to always always ALWAYS love their sissy!
I made this video for  my family at Christmas when baby sis was away in Europe, as a little Christmas gift. I didn’t think I was ever going to share it on here. But I edited it a bit for the blog, and if you can sit through the two songs, it is pretty cute 😉 The end is the best, but again I am biased. HA! It starts with my sweet parents small wedding (remember that story from here?)… and just highlights our life together. And yes, I realize we skip from about 1996-2010-someone got tired making the video…. 😉

ANYWAY, are you cheesed out yet? The point is, sisters are fantastic. And I thank God everyday for the two I have 🙂

  1. Ashley says:

Y'all are too cute for words – makes me wish I had a sister(or two)!!

  2. Such a sweet post, thank you for sharing! I have one (younger) sister and I feel the exact same way about her, she is my best friend 🙂 We are super close and I'm thankful to have her as a friend now that we're older. The challenge is that she lives in NYC and I'm on the West Coast (Lake Tahoe) so with our jobs and the distance, we don't get to see each other nearly as often as we'd like. But it makes me cherish the memories that much more and we really do value the times we get to spend together (plus, not gonna lie I kind of like having a reason to have to visit NYC!) Yay for sisters 🙂 Btw you and your sissies are all gorgeous! xoxo

  3. This is so very sweet. The bond between sisters is so special! I have a sister who is three years younger than me, and there is no one in the world who understands me like her. We live all the way across the country from each other, but I'm so grateful for her. My boyfriend has no sibs and that makes me sad for him!

  4. Raven says:

    SISTERS ARE FANTASTIC.

    Sure are.

I am the oldest also, and my two younger twin sisters are my best friends now. I talk to both every single day. And to think I thought I hated them growing up!!! I could relate to EVERYTHING you said in this post!!

  5. I have 3 sisters, too — and NOBODY understands when we call each other "sissY" or when we can be irate with them, but get SO upset when other people get mad at them — I guess because we're grown, lol. Having a sister is a wonderful thing and I am very, very blessed to have three. And I have two girls myself. 🙂

  6. Tori G says:

That is such a sweet post! I love it! I have a sister too and we are 18 months apart and even though we live 5 hours away we still talk everyday and she will always be my best friend!

  7. Mrs.HVK says:

Ahhhh tears!! Beautiful video:) I am sure your parents feel like time went by so fast. I have 2 sisters who are my best friends also. Not sure where I would be without them!! We have a GNO planned for tonight, pedis and dinner with drinks! This post makes me even more excited to go! Thanks:)

  8. Brooke says:

Oh, Allie, you've got the sweetest heart and the sweetest family : )

  9. P!nky says:

Ahhhhh so so so sweet! Your relationship with your sissys reminds me of mine. WE love and encourage each other and basically are our own being.

Fist bump oldest sistah, we have the hardest job 😉

  10. Lauren says:

Y'all make me want to have a sister! This is precious!

  11. jayme says:

i have one sister and four step sisters, and a step bro. and my little step sister was my maid of honor, with my real sis of course being my matron of honor.

sisters are certainly a blessing. just wait until one of them makes you an aunt!!!!!! that's even better than a sister! haha

  12. -Lauren says:

SO super sweet. I have two brothers, not the same. Although, I may have put makeup on them and tried to shave their legs once or twice in my lifetime.

  13. Cindy says:

That quote is from an "unknown" source, but also is part of a song called Everybody's Free (to Wear Sunscreen) which was adapted from a column written in the Chicago Tribune in 1997. I googled it. I'm lame like that. Here's the Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wear_Sunscreen
    🙂
I have 2 sisteres (a twin and a younger sister) and we all live more than 500 miles apart and only see each other once or twice a year. My twin and I were close growing up, but all 3 of us have kind of drifted apart in the 6+ years we've lived apart. It's kind of sad, but the distance makes it difficult. It's ok though, we all talk regularly, just don't get to be together 🙂

  14. Sasha says:

Awwww….. sadly, I am an only child. So I always hoped I'd be able to have more than one. I am blessed with a boy and girl, a little over 2 years apart, and I so hope that someday they are close like you and your sisters are!

  15. Brittany says:

Seriously, what a sweet video! I'm an only child, and I always wondered what it'd be like to have siblings. Although, I learned how to be incredibly selfish being the only kid around! 😉

  16. Stevie Smith says:

I'm the oldest of two sisters as well, and I can relate too well with this post. I love the job of being oldest sissy. And I am so grateful that I'm close with them. You and your sisters are also lucky you all look so pretty!

  17. Jen W says:

Omigosh the video made me cry… Such a sweet idea and a reminder of how fast time flys by. I too have a younger sister and am totally stealing this video idea to do for my parents anniversary 🙂 thank you for sharing 🙂 xoxo! -jen

  18. Ashley says:

What a lovely video.. I totally wish I had a sister or two for that matter!! Your family is beautiful!

    xo,
    Sincerely Miss Ash

  19. BriBrooke says:

Legit teared up at the end…great video!

  20. Mo W says:

PLL – Love this post!!!! I have 4 sisters and know that I am so blessed to have these special ladies in my life. PS – is it bad that I keep telling people I want to have a pinot grigio and poofing night??? 😉 I'm serious too!

  21. Jaclyn Kaye says:

Oh my – you are just the cutest! That video is so so sweet! Ugh – why'd I get stuck with a dang brother?! 😉

  22. Lauren says:

This video is the sweetest! I agree sisters are the BEST! 🙂

  23. Allison says:

This was seriously so cute! I loved the video. I so wish I was close with my family like you are to yours!

  24. Completely sweet, heartwarming, and inspiring. Blessings!

  25. So sweet! Brice has 3 older sisters, the oldest being 12 years older than Brice. All four of them are SO close (and yet all so different!). Being an only child, it makes me wish I had siblings! I am making sure I have a big family so they can share this special sibling bond that I see with Brice and his sisters as well as my friends and others such as your family!

  26. Traci says:

    SO sweet! Loved this post.
Cherish them! I lost my sister in 2009 and miss her more and more everyday.
I'm not sure who said "Stay close to your siblings, they are the closest link to your past, and the ones most likely to be there in your future" but they were right on!

  27. MissSCCarter says:

Loved the video, y'all are too cute for words!! I'm ready to call my sissy now 😉

  28. wifluvelle says:

    I have 2 younger sistas n I have a pug too 🙂

  29. Ashleigh says:

So very sweet & heartfelt! I just loved this little post…

  30. Candi says:

Very cute. You are so blessed to have your sisters. My little sister is my best friend & I thank God that He gave her to me.

  31. Jill says:

You just made me cry 🙂

  32. Kait says:

That video is absolutely precious–I love it. I watched the entire thing and you have the sweetest family!

  33. This is truly a blessing, indeed, girlfriend! I just wrote my very first post today as a vent session about how the mothers/daughters (and indirectly, the other sisters) in my life do nothing but fight and degrade each other on a daily basis. I wish I knew how it got to be this way, and how to make it stop. Ughhh.
That picture of you for your business is absolutely gorgeous!

  34. Brooke says:

Your so lucky to have sisters! I have one older sister, but we are very different. It would be so nice to have sisters that have similar interest! Your blessed!

    =) Brooke

  35. Stephanie says:

    That was an amazing video!!
My little sis is getting married this fall and I would love to put together something like this for her for her bridal shower. How did you do it? What program did you use? How did you make the pics move in and out and add music and quotes? I would love some insight on how to do this.
    Love your blog!!!

  36. meghan says:

That might just be the sweetest video I've ever seen. I can only imagine how much it meant to your parents. I have two little girls, and I'd be thrilled to end up with a third. Your sisters are lucky to have you – love, love, love reading your blog!

    Meghan

P.S. I grew up with pugs, too! 🙂
